Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address both sides of the discussion and state a preference for the continued importance of theatres and cinemas. The online-view paragraph gives relevant reasons—convenience, avoiding travel and lower cost—while the opposing paragraph mentions employment, local businesses, shared experiences and cultural preservation. However, the position is not consistently expressed: the opening says “I agree with the last view,” but the conclusion’s wording about preferring online viewing is unclear and appears to conflict with your final reasons. Several points are asserted rather than explained, such as how nearby businesses benefit or how cinemas preserve culture. Make your opinion explicit and consistent, then develop each main reason with a clear explanation or example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable introduction, two body paragraphs presenting opposing views, and a conclusion, so the reader can follow its broad structure. “First and foremost” and “On the other hand” signal the shift between arguments. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes unclear, and some linking expressions are inaccurate or repetitive. For example, “At last” does not naturally introduce a final supporting point, and the conclusion begins with “although” followed by a separate “While” clause, leaving the relationship between ideas confusing. References such as “this venue” and “this helps the” are also unclear. Use simpler, accurate transitions and ensure each paragraph develops one central idea in a logical sequence.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You attempt vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “streaming service,” “employment opportunities,” “economic and cultural values,” and “cultural heritage.” These choices show an effort to discuss both practical and cultural effects. However, word choice and collocation are often inaccurate or awkward, which sometimes makes the intended meaning difficult to understand: “reduce to watch the movies,” “an attracting more consumers,” and “the best feeling mentioned the sound effect” are examples. Some expressions are also imprecise, such as “near locating restaurants.” Build accuracy by learning common word partnerships and checking whether a chosen word fits its grammatical form and meaning. Prefer clear, natural phrasing over ambitious expressions that do not convey the point precisely.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a contrastive opening and sentences beginning with “While” and “although.” However, control is inconsistent, and errors occur frequently across verb forms, agreement, articles, plurals and sentence boundaries. Examples include “streaming service allow,” “this venue is continue,” “watching movies in theatre have,” and the incomplete construction “While, I strongly believe.” Capitalisation and punctuation are also unreliable, as in the lower-case starts after full stops and the space before the comma in “In conclusion ,”. These errors sometimes obscure relationships between ideas. Practise forming complete clauses, checking subject–verb agreement and verb patterns, and proofreading each sentence for articles and punctuation.
