Student answer (Band 5.5)
Theatres and cinemas remain culturally and economically vital despite the rise of online streaming platforms. This discussion examines both perspectives and provides an evaluation of their ongoing relevance. In my opinion online services has made our lives easier.
Theatres and cinemas are economically and culturally important because we can learn about our past nations. In theatres, mostly a group of people perform specific roles assigned to them and its mainly based on real life experiences. Similarly, cinemas reflect a sense of socialism all individuals in one place can share emotions of laughing and crying and it exerts a strong social impact. For instance, people get to know each other through interacting with each other.
On the other hand, online streaming has made our lives a way much easier, you can simply search about the relevant movie or drama with just one click. Moreover, it provides us flexibility we can watch anything with convenience. In addition to cinemas and theatres, where you have to follow a strict schedule and if you are late you will miss everything. Also, you can use you smartphone to stream online and watch anything while laying down or sitting. while on other side, you have to sit in a specific chair or place until the show end. So, in my opinion entertainment through online sources is convenient. For example, most of individuals after a hectic day at work simply scroll on their phone to entertain themselves, rather than going to a specific place.
In nutshell, Although theatres and cinemas have distinct role in preserving the cultural heritage but online streaming is what people prefer now because it has easy approach.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You discuss both perspectives and give a preference for online entertainment, so the response addresses the main parts of the prompt. The opening also signals the topic clearly. However, your position is not fully consistent: you first describe theatres and cinemas as “economically and culturally vital,” but later conclude that online streaming is what people prefer, without clearly weighing the two views or explaining your final judgement. The cultural points about learning about the past and sharing emotions are relevant, but the economic importance of theatres and cinemas is not actually explained. The online benefits are clearer, though examples such as convenience could be developed further. To strengthen the response, explain the economic contribution of venues and state directly why your preferred view outweighs the other.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, a paragraph about theatres and cinemas, a contrasting paragraph about streaming, and a conclusion. Transitions such as “On the other hand,” “Moreover,” and “For example” help signal the direction of ideas. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes uneven. The first body paragraph moves from learning about the past to performers and then social interaction without clearly linking these points. In the streaming paragraph, several comparisons repeat the idea of convenience, and the long sentence beginning “On the other hand” joins separate claims with commas. The conclusion is brief and does not clearly resolve the opening’s mixed position. Group related points more tightly and use clearer sentence boundaries to make the argument flow more naturally.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “online streaming platforms,” “cultural heritage,” “flexibility,” and “social impact.” These choices show some range beyond basic everyday language. However, several expressions are imprecise or unnatural, which limits clarity: “a way much easier,” “a sense of socialism,” “easy approach,” and “specific chair or place” do not express the intended ideas accurately. There is also repetition of “watch anything” and “convenience.” Aim for more precise collocations and avoid using a word that resembles the intended meaning but changes it, as with “socialism.” Replacing repeated general terms with specific language about access, shared experiences, and venue revenue would make the argument more convincing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt a mixture of simple and more complex structures, including contrast and reason clauses, as in “Although theatres and cinemas have distinct role… but online streaming…” and “because we can learn about our past nations.” However, complex sentences are often not controlled successfully, and errors occur frequently enough to make some sentences difficult to follow. For example, “online services has” has subject–verb disagreement, while “you can simply search…, moreover, it provides…” joins independent clauses incorrectly. Other issues include “its mainly based” and “until the show end.” Use a wider range of sentence patterns, but build them carefully: check agreement and verb forms, and separate complete ideas with full stops or appropriate conjunctions. This will improve accuracy without sacrificing complexity.
