Student answer (Band 6.0)
The role of theaters and cinemas has sparked a debate in the recent times. Some believe with the advancement of technology people can watch movies or damas online. While others say cinemas and theaters are still playing a crucial role in the economy and culture. Although, many people prefer watch entertainment at home, from my perspective cinemas still hold a significant value as they play the role of psychological anchor and also benefits economy.
On the one hand, proponents of online watching say that now the life has become very busy. To begin with, individuals do not have much time to travel and entertain themselves in the cinemas. There are many online platforms these days which provide access to all kind of entertainment from across the globe. As a result people tend to buy subscriptions and also share with their loved ones and enjoy together while being in their comfort zone. For instance, recently my brother bought Netflix subscription and shared it with me.
On the other hand, advocates of cinemas and theaters say that these platforms are of paramount importance and act as psychological anchors. People want escape from their hectic routines. They like to go out and watch movies on big screens. Addiontally, individuals want to enjoy movies on 3D screens with good picture quality. Recently, my friends went to watch Superman movie. I firmy believe, when movies with good story and cinematic views is released it plays a vital role in the economy as well. It generates revenue and also helps in depicting the positive image of a country.
In conclusion, many people prefer to stay at home and enjoy movies and shows online becaause they feel at ease, cinemas are still playing a crucial role in uplifting the economy and culture by providing quality entertainment.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address both views and state your own position: online viewing is convenient, while cinemas retain psychological, economic and cultural value. The examples of your brother sharing a Netflix subscription and your friends seeing Superman make the discussion relevant. However, the two sides are not developed equally. The online argument is mainly about busy schedules and comfort, while the claim that cinemas support culture and present a positive image of a country is asserted rather than explained. “Psychological anchor” is also not clarified, so its relevance is difficult to assess. To strengthen the response, explain how cinemas contribute to employment, local businesses or shared cultural experiences, and connect each example directly to the point it supports.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. Signposting such as “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” makes the progression easy to follow. This meets the lower-band expectation for coherent organisation and shows some of the flexibility associated with stronger cohesion. However, several links feel mechanical, and some connections between claims are abrupt. For example, the move from 3D screens to the Superman example and then to economic benefits needs clearer explanation. The conclusion also repeats the main contrast without fully drawing together your reasons. Use more precise referencing and transitions to show how each example supports the paragraph’s central idea.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range for the topic, including phrases such as “advancement of technology,” “paramount importance,” “hectic routines,” and “generates revenue.” These attempts at more formal vocabulary help communicate your ideas, and the meaning is generally clear. Some word choices and collocations are inaccurate or awkward, however: “damas” appears to mean “dramas,” “psychological anchor” is unclear in this context, and “cinematic views” does not naturally describe the experience of watching a film. There are also spelling slips, including “Addiontally,” “firmy,” and “becaause.” Aim for precise, natural combinations rather than elevated phrases whose meaning is uncertain, and proofread carefully for spelling.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including a contrast clause beginning “Although” and a result clause introduced by “As a result.” The main ideas remain understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. Examples include “many people prefer watch” instead of “prefer to watch,” “the life has become” instead of “life has become,” and “movies with good story … is released,” where the article and subject–verb agreement need correction. The opening “Although” clause is also left without a properly connected main clause. These issues show that more complex structures are being attempted, but control is not consistent. Practise checking verb patterns, articles, agreement and clause connections, then proofread each sentence for a complete grammatical structure.
