Student answer (Band 6.0)

There is a widespread debate over whether theatres and cinemas. While some people contend that in the digital era there is no importance of theatres and cimemas as people can watch all the entertainment online conveniently, others assert that cinemas and theatres are still contributing in economic and culture. This essay will examine both perspectives and argue in the favour of later.

On the one hand, it is understandable why some people advocate that theatres and cinemas have no importance in the digital era. Cheif among these is that people now have plenty of leptops and computers. By using these modalities they can watch films and dramas at home conveniently. To elaborate, today everyone is busy in their daily routine and have not enough time to go in the cinemas and theatres. This is beacause such type of people always prefer unwinding themselves at home. For instance, doctors always prefer home for entertainment due lackness of time. Moreover, proponents argue that some people prefer sedentary lifestyles. They have no intrest in cinemas and theatres. Consequently, people always chose entertainment at home.

On the other hand, i am convinced that theatres and cinemas are important source of income for individuals and economic growth. A most notable benefit is that thay enhance quality of life by providing greater opportunities to talented and skilled person to show their abilities in the cinemas. In this way they can expand their source of income. Furthermore, theatres and cinemas illustrate the culture of the country which is very essential. For example, the Punjabi people are more intrested to waching films in the cinemas beacuse they are more cultural. In this way tradations and cultures can be prserved. Therefore, it seems me to that advantage of providing the opportunities to the skillfull people outweigh the benefit of sadentary lifestyles.

In conclusion, while the debate presents valid arguments on both side. It appears that economic and cultural advantages prevail, provided they are managed judiciously. Thus, theatres and cinemas are important source of stimulate economic growth and culture.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both sides of the discussion and state a clear preference for the economic and cultural value of theatres and cinemas. The second body paragraph gives relevant reasons, including employment opportunities for performers and the preservation of traditions, while the first explains the convenience of home viewing. However, the two sides are not developed equally: the claim that people have sedentary lifestyles adds little explanation, and the example about doctors is asserted rather than clearly connected to the wider argument. Your own position is clearest in the second body paragraph and conclusion, but the conclusion’s phrase “provided they are managed judiciously” introduces a condition that has not been discussed. Develop each main reason with a clearer explanation or example, and keep the position consistent throughout.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. Signposting such as “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” makes the progression easy to follow, and the main ideas are generally placed in relevant paragraphs. This meets the lower-band expectation of coherent organisation and shows some features of stronger progression. However, connections within paragraphs can feel mechanical because several sentences begin with “Moreover,” “For instance,” or “In this way.” Some references are also unclear, as in “the advantage of providing the opportunities” and “they are more cultural.” Use fewer formulaic transitions and make the links between each claim, explanation, and example more explicit.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You attempt vocabulary suited to the topic, including “digital era,” “economic growth,” “cultural,” “talented and skilled,” and “sedentary lifestyles.” These choices show an effort to discuss both social and economic effects. However, the range is limited by repeated general words such as “important,” “people,” and “benefit,” while several inaccurate spellings and word combinations make the writing less natural: “cimemas,” “leptops,” “lackness of time,” and “source of stimulate economic growth.” Some expressions, including “more cultural,” do not convey the intended meaning precisely. Build a more reliable set of topic-specific collocations and check spelling and word forms; this will make your ideas clearer and more precise.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You use a mix of simple sentences and longer structures, including a concession in “while some people contend…” and a conditional phrase in “provided they are managed judiciously.” Most sentences communicate the intended point, and paragraph-level meaning remains understandable. However, some grammatical errors recur in agreement, articles, and sentence construction. For example, “everyone is busy … and have not enough time” shifts from singular to plural agreement, while “theatres and cinemas are important source” needs a plural form or an article. The opening sentence, “There is a widespread debate over whether theatres and cinemas,” is incomplete. Review subject–verb agreement, articles, and sentence completeness, and proofread longer sentences to ensure each clause is grammatically connected.
