Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You address both perspectives and state your view in the introduction: “I agree cinemas are still part of society.” The paragraph about online viewing gives relevant reasons, including comfort, flexible timing and avoiding crowds. However, the discussion of the opposing view is much less developed: the idea that venues provide a family outing is mentioned, but the economic and cultural importance specified in the prompt is not explained. Your conclusion repeats the family-time point without drawing the two views together. To strengthen the response, explain how cinemas support jobs or local businesses and how shared screenings or live performances contribute to culture, then support these points with a specific example and make your position clear throughout.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. Signposts such as “Initially,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” help readers follow the broad direction. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes unclear: the move from avoiding crowds to enjoying films with others is not fully explained, and the second body paragraph shifts from strict schedules to family gatherings without showing the connection clearly. Some linking phrases, including “To elaborate” and “To explain,” feel repetitive or mechanical. Build each paragraph around one main point, explain how each supporting detail relates to it, and use clearer referencing so that phrases such as “this reason” have an unmistakable antecedent.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “online platforms,” “traditional places,” “crowded places,” and “entertainment sources.” There are also attempts at less common expressions, such as “strict schedule” and “economically and culturally,” although the latter comes from the task framing rather than being developed in your argument. Several inaccurate or unnatural choices make parts of the response harder to understand, for example “other counterclaim,” “it set their under budget,” and “cut the unnessacary voices.” Spelling and word-form problems also appear in “realising date” and “get together.” Aim for precise collocations and check spelling; choosing familiar, accurate expressions is more effective than using phrases whose meaning is unclear.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a contrast introduced by “While” and explanations beginning with “To elaborate.” However, complex attempts are often faulty, and errors in verb forms, agreement, articles and sentence construction can make meaning difficult to follow. For example, “individuals watching movies at home they feel more comfortable” combines clauses without a correct structure, while “technology can allowing people to enjoying” uses incorrect verb forms. “Theatres are still be important” also shows a problem with the verb pattern. Practise building accurate sentences with one clear main clause, then add a subordinate clause where appropriate. Check subject–verb agreement and use the correct form after modal verbs such as “can.”
