Student answer (Band 5.5)
In digital time, some people argue that entertainment platforms (theatres and cinemas) are no longer important as people can get all the entertainment by online streaming platforms. Others argue that theatres and cinemas are still important both economically and culturally. In this essay, I will discuss both views and at the and give my opinion.
With the development of technology people have access to watch movies online. People find it more convenient and reliable, as they don't have to pay and wait in long lines to get tickets. They have access to multiple options to watch according to their mood, for example; people can find a range of movies and series on Netflix and other movie platforms. Furthermore, people can spend quality time with their partners and family in their comfort zone. However, it will reduce social interactions and people can bound to their houses.
On the other hand, theatres and cinemas plays a very significant role in the economy and culture values of society. The producers and directors have to take responsibility to work accordingly the current time requirements and make movies, plays which attracts people to spend their more time in cinemas again. For instance, booking of skits and movies online with other eating facilities helps to get attention of people back in theatres and cinemas.
In conclusion, the people find online streaming platforms more convenient with multiple options therefore the tend to watch movies at cinemas and theatres are losing their popularity among the people. In my opinion, digital technology opening multiple options for the entertainment purposes with its benefits people have to face other social problems and government will struggle economically, to overcome those issues directors and producers must bring more thriller stories back in cinemas and theatres with other resources which helps to get the audience back in the entertainment halls.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You address both views and give a personal position, so the response is relevant to the task. The online-entertainment paragraph explains convenience, choice and home viewing, while the cinema paragraph mentions economic and cultural importance. However, the second view is not fully explained: the claim about the economy is asserted rather than supported with a clear example, and cultural value receives little development. Your opinion is present, but the conclusion focuses mainly on declining popularity and asks producers to attract audiences, leaving your own judgement about the continuing importance of cinemas somewhat unclear. Develop each side with specific reasons or examples, then state directly whether you believe theatres remain important and why. The length requirement is met; 23 words copied from the prompt were not counted.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, a paragraph for online viewing, a contrasting paragraph about theatres and cinemas, and a conclusion. Linking phrases such as “On the other hand” and “In conclusion” help signal the direction of the argument. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes uneven. The sentence beginning “However” introduces reduced social interaction but does not explain how this relates to the preceding benefits, and the final sentence combines several points—technology, social problems, government finances and producers’ actions—without clear connections. Some linking is also mechanical. To strengthen the organisation, give each paragraph a focused main idea, explain how each example supports it, and make the conclusion follow directly from the position established in the introduction.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a relevant range of topic vocabulary, including “online streaming platforms,” “social interactions,” “producers and directors,” and “audience.” These choices make the subject clear, and there are attempts to express ideas beyond basic entertainment vocabulary. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or awkward, such as “In digital time,” “comfort zone,” “culture values,” and “get attention of people back.” These reduce naturalness and sometimes make the intended point less precise. Repetition of “people,” “movies,” and “theatres and cinemas” also limits flexibility. Aim for more precise academic phrasing and check whether words commonly occur together; for example, describe cinemas’ “cultural significance” and say that they “attract audiences.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a reason clause with “as” and a contrast introduced by “However.” The main ideas are generally understandable, but errors occur often enough to affect clarity and control. For example, “theatres and cinemas plays” has a subject–verb agreement error, while “people can bound to their houses” has an incorrect verb construction. The conclusion also contains a difficult sentence structure in “digital technology opening multiple options … people have to face,” where the relationship between clauses is unclear. There are problems with articles, plurals and punctuation as well. Practise building accurate sentences with one main clause and a clearly connected supporting clause, then check agreement and verb forms during revision.
