Student answer (Band 5.5)
In this modern era, technological advancements are serving a important role in the lives of the people. To elaborate this, the availability of electronic appliances such as smartphones and televisions has helped a lot. Individuals can now watch all the entertainment they want online. However, theatres and cinemas have their own benefits.
On the one hand, some people say that in the digital age, theatres and cinemas are no longer important due to presence of smartphones and internet. This statement is proved true, as going to watch movies outdoor requires alot of time. But in this time period, having free time is not usual. Secondly, the price of tickets have increased with time this can also be a reason of watching entertainment online. Nowadays, People tend to save more money to become financially independent
On the other hand, theatres and cinemas are stil important both economically and culturally because they create a sense of familarity and belonging. For instance, going outdoors helps us to spend some valuable time with family and friends. This is the one of the major reasons why cinemas are still considered important. Another reason is that watching movies outdoors contributes in the development of the country. For example, if a person watches movie they have to buy the tickets which contributes in the form of tax.
In conclusion, both point of views have their own benefits and are seen solely important both traditionally and economically. So, just considering one view would not be good. To sum up, smartphones should be used when there is no time to go outside and watch a movie.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You address both views and give a concluding opinion, so the response is relevant to the question. The online-entertainment argument includes practical reasons—limited free time and rising ticket prices—while the case for cinemas refers to shared experiences and tax contributions. However, these points are only briefly explained. The economic argument, for example, focuses on ticket tax without showing more broadly how theatres support employment or local businesses, and the cultural case is not clearly distinguished from spending time with family. Your final position is also somewhat unclear: you say both views matter, then recommend using smartphones when time is limited. Develop each main idea with a clearer explanation or example, and state your own view directly. The response meets the stated length requirement; 15 words copied from the task prompt were not counted.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. The signposts “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” help readers follow the discussion. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes weak: the point about ticket prices is followed by saving money without a clear link to the wider argument, and the conclusion repeats that both views have benefits rather than resolving the discussion. Some connections are also awkward or unclear, such as “This is the one of the major reasons,” which makes the reference to the preceding idea less smooth. Build each paragraph around one central claim, explain it, and use linking phrases to show the relationship between reasons and examples rather than relying mainly on basic signposts.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “technological advancements,” “financially independent,” and “economically and culturally.” However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or repetitive. Phrases such as “watching movies outdoor,” “contributes in the development,” and “sense of familarity” are not natural or precise in context; spelling errors such as “stil,” “alot,” and “familarity” also reduce accuracy. “Important” and “reason” recur without much variation. Aim to learn common collocations for this topic and check spelling carefully. More precise expressions for the economic and cultural roles of cinemas would help you explain your ideas with greater clarity.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a subordinate clause in “because they create a sense…” and a conditional structure in “if a person watches movie.” However, errors are frequent, and some sentences are difficult to follow because clauses are joined or formed inaccurately. For example, “the price of tickets have increased with time this can also be a reason” needs a clear sentence boundary and subject–verb agreement; “a important role” and “if a person watches movie” also show article or singular-noun problems. Punctuation is inconsistent, particularly where full stops are missing before “This” and “Nowadays.” Practise accurate sentence boundaries, articles, agreement, and plural forms, then proofread each sentence for one clear main clause.
