Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.5

The response is only minimally relevant to the question: it describes personal experiences of theatres and online films, but does not clearly discuss whether cinemas remain economically or culturally important, nor explain the opposing view that online entertainment makes them less necessary. The brief points about buying tickets, subscriptions and watching in bed could support the two sides, but they are not developed into reasons or examples that answer the prompt. There is also no clear concluding opinion, so the reader cannot identify your position. The response is four words below the required minimum, which further limits the development possible. To improve, address both views directly, explain their economic and cultural effects, and finish with a clearly supported opinion.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

There is a basic attempt to organise the response into a theatre section and an internet section, and phrases such as “first” and “now” signal a change of topic. However, the ideas do not progress through a clear discussion of both views, and the response ends without a conclusion. Several sentences run together or contain unclear references, such as “the movie was boring if they're not partnered with some movie snacks” and the description of the screen and equipment. Paragraphing is limited, and the opening focuses on introducing personal experience rather than setting out the discussion. Use separate paragraphs for the online argument, the continuing value of theatres, and your opinion; connect each point with clear cause-and-effect links.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

The response uses a small range of relevant vocabulary, including “theatre,” “subscription,” “access,” and “flexible,” so the main topic is generally recognisable. However, wording is often repetitive or imprecise, and some expressions make ideas difficult to follow, such as “a big white blank” and “movie tapes and video tape devices.” There are also spelling and word-choice problems, including “eatching” and “yiu,” alongside repeated use of “movie” and “watch.” Build a wider set of accurate terms for the topic, such as “streaming services,” “cinema audience,” “live performance,” and “ticket revenue.” Check spelling and choose precise phrases rather than describing an object indirectly.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response attempts some longer sentences and uses basic time and conditional forms, for example, “before you watch movie in internet they have a subscription offer.” However, sentence boundaries and grammatical control are inconsistent, and many sentences contain errors that make the relationships between ideas unclear. Examples include “How I'm Jose Nicolas Carlos,” “before the gadgets and internets watching movies,” and “it places infront of you they have a movie tapes.” Verb forms, articles, plurals, and punctuation also need attention; for instance, “a movie” and “movies” are not used consistently, and several sentences begin with lowercase letters. Practise writing complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, then check articles, agreement, and punctuation.
