Student answer (Band 5.5)

It is often argued that with the advancement of technology Cinemas and theatres are not important for people because mostly people watch movies and entertainment through online. In contrast, some people believe that cinemas and theatres are still usefull for both culturally and economically. From my perspective, i completly agree that people watch entertainment online as they went and consume less time.

Firstly, in the new era of technology peoples are so much busy in their lives and have less time for other activities. Peoples are mostly prefer watch all the entertainment online through different application like Tiktok, Instagram, Youtube and other platforms. For Instance, Peoples are worried about entertainments in cinemas and theatres because they have limited choices for entertainment but nowdays they are free and have multiple choices for their interest and less consumed time.As a result, theatres and cinemas are not important for peoples.

On the other hand, theatres and Cinemas are play a crusial role in both country economy and culturally because its create a lot of employment for people for both educated and uneducated people. Especially in cinemas mostly theatres drama are revlove our tradition and culture to motivate peoples to search their ancident peoples and know about them. For example, When people buy tickets for entertainment while government take their tax and contribute in development for people and boost economy.

In Conclusion, i completly agree that people dont have enough time for cinemas and watching their favourite shows through online while theatres and cinemas are play important role in economy and our culture.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address both sides of the discussion and state a position, particularly in the opening and conclusion. The online-entertainment paragraph gives relevant reasons, such as busy lives, convenience and wider choice. However, your opinion is not fully consistent: you say you agree that people watch online, but the conclusion also recognises the cultural and economic importance of cinemas without clarifying how this affects your overall view. The opposing argument is also only partly developed. Employment and tax revenue are relevant economic points, while the cultural claim about dramas representing tradition needs clearer explanation and a more specific example. Develop each side with a fuller explanation and make your own judgement explicit throughout.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, one paragraph for each view, and a conclusion. The sequence of ideas is generally easy to follow, and signposts such as “Firstly,” “On the other hand,” and “In Conclusion” help identify the stages of the argument. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical, with repeated references to “people,” “cinemas and theatres,” and “entertainment.” Some links between claims are unclear; for example, the sentence about dramas and tradition moves quickly to buying tickets and government tax without explaining the connection. Use referencing and linking more precisely, and organise each body paragraph around a central point supported by explanation and an example.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “advancement of technology,” “employment,” “tradition and culture,” and “boost economy.” However, the range is limited and several word-choice, collocation, and spelling problems make parts of the response less clear or natural. For example, “consume less time” is not an idiomatic way to describe convenience, and “theatres drama are revlove our tradition” is difficult to interpret. There are also repeated basic terms such as “people,” “important,” and “entertainment.” Build a wider set of accurate expressions for convenience, cultural value, and economic contribution, and check spelling and word forms carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and longer sentence forms, including a contrastive opening and sentences beginning with “because” and “while.” However, control is inconsistent, and errors in sentence structure, agreement, articles, and punctuation sometimes make the meaning difficult to follow. Examples include “people are mostly prefer watch,” “theatres and Cinemas are play,” and “its create a lot of employment.” Several sentences also run together, as in the opening paragraph, where a full stop is needed before “In contrast.” Practise forming accurate clauses with a subject and correctly conjugated verb, and use a smaller number of well-controlled complex sentences before attempting more elaborate structures.
