Student answer (Band 5.5)

Modern tools significantly changed the entertainment industry. In this digital age, most people would like to go to theaters and cinemas where as most people may like to watch entertainment online according to their own taste. In my opinion, I strongly agree that theaters and cinemas are still important economically and culturally.

To begin with, a big budget is needed to produced an entertainment film. To book profit they play movies in theaters on big screens. This also represents culture and also help in economy growth. In todays busy life, everyone is indulged in their bussy schedule. In this hectic situation, going to cinema to get entertained, relaxed the person mentally and physically. As this event is apart from daily routine. Due to this, people may like to go to theaters and cinemas to get refreshment as well as to do something different. This also brings job opportunities for many like for the tuck shop from where audience get snacks like popcorn and beverages. This also play role to grow economy as they tax to the government.

On the other hand, some people would like to watch movies online instead of cinemas. Because there are many platforms available online which provide a large category of movies you can watch according to your mood and time. For instance netflix, amazon prime. As compared to cinemas where there are limited options to watch which everyone may not like. The other reason to not visit cinemas is that , due to bad social behaviour of society and families may hesitate to go to such places. They may have fear to get misbehaved by others. So, they prefer to watch online at their homes.

In conclusion, both the cinemas lover and online watcher has right opinion as per their reservations. But i thinks entertainment means to do something different apart from daily routine.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both sides of the discussion and state a clear preference: theatres and cinemas remain important economically and culturally. The economic points about employment at snack shops and tax revenue are relevant, while the online-platform paragraph explains convenience, choice and concerns about behaviour in public venues. However, the cultural importance is asserted rather than explained, and the economic argument that films need large budgets and are shown in cinemas to make a profit needs clearer development. Your conclusion also says both groups have a “right opinion” without firmly restating why you favour cinemas. Develop these points with specific explanations or examples, and make your position consistent and explicit throughout, to address the task more fully.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. Transitions such as “To begin with” and “On the other hand” help readers follow the discussion. Within paragraphs, however, some links are mechanical or unclear. For example, repeated uses of “This also” make the connections between cultural value, employment and economic growth difficult to track, while “As this event is apart from daily routine” is not clearly connected to the preceding sentence. The final paragraph introduces a new general idea rather than neatly summarising the argument. Use clearer referencing, vary linking expressions, and organise each body paragraph around one main point with its explanation and example.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “digital age,” “platforms,” “job opportunities” and “social behaviour.” There are also attempts at less common expressions, such as “hectic situation” and “economic growth.” However, noticeable word-choice, collocation and spelling problems sometimes make the meaning less natural: “book profit,” “tuck shop,” “get refreshment,” and “bussy schedule” are examples. Repetition of “people,” “watch” and “This also” further limits flexibility. Build a more accurate range of phrases for discussing entertainment and its effects, and check spelling and collocations. For instance, use “generate revenue,” “concession stand,” and “unwind” where appropriate.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including clauses introduced by “whereas,” “which” and “where.” The overall meaning is generally understandable, but some errors in sentence structure, verb forms, agreement and punctuation remain. Examples include “a big budget is needed to produced,” “This also play role,” and “both the cinemas lover and online watcher has.” The sentence beginning “Because there are many platforms” is a fragment, and “In todays busy life” needs an apostrophe and a more complete grammatical construction. Improve control of infinitives, subject–verb agreement and sentence boundaries, and proofread punctuation. More accurate complex sentences would make your reasoning clearer without requiring you to avoid them.
