Student answer (Band 6.0)

The importance of cinemia and theaters remains debatable. Some people think when we can watch everything online than there is no need to go to cinemas and theaters. While, others believe that both still hold value ecnomically and socially.

Watching online everything is so convient that most people prefer it, especially the ones that are so occupied with their work and life. Nowadays, most people do not want to put much efforts when everything can be accessed online via multiple subscriptions. There are multiple apps that provide latest movies and series and these movies and series can be watched easily in whatever language you are comfortable in and can also view subtitles too. It is favorable for the people who do not have enough time to go to cinemas and theaters and are so much tired that they want to enjoy these kind of contents while on bed.

On the other hand, cinemas and theaters cannot be completely shut down as they have their own importance. They generate a great source of revenue as people are buying tickets and also purchasing the food, specifically popcorns. After watching movie in cinemas and theaters, most audience want to have food so it is beneficial for that kind of people who are offering food there. Cinemas also make people connected as most of the audience usually come along with their family or friends to enjoy. Cinemas and theatres also show the cultural content. In Pakistan, there are a lot of movies that are based on country's history or are about the life and contributions of renowned personalities.

In my opinion, cinemas and theaters hold their own worth as they hold economic and cultural value. Even though, its digital age we can still make our cinemas and theaters alive as they hold their own importance rather than totally shiting ourselves towards online entertainment.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You address both views and give a clear opinion: online viewing is convenient, while cinemas and theatres retain economic and cultural value. The examples of ticket and food sales, social outings, and Pakistani films about history and notable people are relevant. This meets the task well, and the cultural example gives your position some support. However, the online-viewing side is developed mainly through convenience and lack of time, while the economic and cultural points are listed more than explained. For example, you could clarify how local productions preserve cultural identity or how cinema employment benefits communities. To strengthen the response further, extend each main idea with a specific consequence or example and make the comparison between the two views more explicit.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph for each view, and a concluding opinion. The progression from online convenience to the continuing value of cinemas is easy to follow, and signposts such as “On the other hand” and “In my opinion” help guide the reader. Some connections are less smooth or precise, however. The opening “While” sentence is not fully integrated with the preceding sentence, and repeated references to “cinemas and theaters” make parts of the response feel mechanical. The economic examples also move quickly from ticket sales to food purchases without clearly linking them to the wider economic claim. Use a wider range of referencing and linking, and make the relationship between each example and its main point explicit.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “subscriptions,” “revenue,” “cultural content,” and “renowned personalities.” These choices show some range beyond basic terms. However, noticeable spelling and word-choice errors reduce precision, including “cinemia,” “ecnonomically,” “convient,” and “shiting.” Some phrases are also unnatural or repetitive, such as “watching online everything,” “hold their own worth,” and repeated use of “movies and series.” Aim for accurate collocations and more precise wording: for example, describe cinemas as “generating revenue” and audiences as “attending screenings.” Proofreading spelling and replacing repeated general terms with suitable alternatives would make your vocabulary more effective and natural.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentences, including clauses beginning “especially the ones that…” and “as they hold economic and cultural value.” Most ideas remain understandable, but some grammatical errors affect accuracy. For example, “Some people think when we can watch everything online than…” has an incorrect clause structure, and “most people do not want to put much efforts” has a number-agreement problem. The sentence beginning “Even though, its digital age…” is also incomplete in structure, while “most audience want” needs a plural form or a different construction. Work on forming complete contrast clauses, subject–verb agreement, articles, and countable versus uncountable nouns. More consistently accurate complex sentences would improve control.
