Student answer (Band 5.5)

With modren technology it is indeed easier for you to watch movies at home, but does that mean that we are going to see the end of theatres and cinemas in the near future? No because of 2 main points which are the experiance and how the industry is wroking.

First let's adress the first point ( experiance ) as we know cinemas provide a better experiance than tv's and the diffrance is clear even though it's easier to watch at home. The comfortable seets and the huge screen are massive advantages compared to your sofa and your living room's tv . Also let's not forget the nestolgia effect do you remember going to the cinema for the first time as a kid? Of course you do you probobly even remember the movie you saw and how you felt about it. These memories will motivate you to go back to the cinema even if it meant your going to pay some extra cash.

Now let's adress the second point ( the shape of the industry ) most companies nowadays release their movies in cinemas before streming platforms by months. And obviously they do that to encourage people to go watch it in cinemas. In order for them to gain more profit and for people to be courios about the movie becease it's only avalable in the cinemas. For example most if not all of the spiderman movie's are released in cinemas months before streming platform and it dosen't seem like fans are upset about it. It's actualy the opposite fans are always excited and it's very hard to find a seet to watch the movie.

In conclution digital streaming platforms made it easier for consumers to watch movies. However looking at the direction the industry is going to it's nearly impossible to see the end of cinemas in the near future.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

Your position is clear: you believe cinemas will remain important, and you support this with points about the viewing experience and release strategies. These are relevant ideas, and the Spider-Man example helps illustrate the second point. However, the task asks you to discuss both views, and the opposing case—that online entertainment can make theatres less necessary—is only briefly acknowledged in the opening. The economic and cultural importance of cinemas is also not directly explored; your points focus mainly on audience experience and film companies’ choices. To develop the response more fully, explain the benefits and limitations of online viewing, then connect cinemas explicitly to employment, local businesses, or shared cultural experiences. Some supporting ideas, such as nostalgia, would also benefit from clearer explanation.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a coherent overall arrangement: an introduction states your view, two body paragraphs present separate reasons, and the conclusion returns to your position. Paragraphing makes the main stages easy to follow, and signposts such as “First” and “For example” help readers identify the direction of the argument. However, the repeated formula “let’s address the first/second point” makes the progression somewhat mechanical, and the opposing view is not given its own clear place in the structure. Some connections between sentences are also abrupt, particularly around “available in the cinemas. For example,” where punctuation and spacing obscure the transition. Use more varied links and build a balanced sequence that moves from the online-viewing argument to the case for cinemas.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “streaming platforms,” “consumers,” “profit,” and “nostalgia,” and these choices help communicate your main ideas. There is some attempt to use more specific language, such as “release their movies in cinemas before streaming platforms,” although the phrasing could be more precise. Frequent spelling errors—such as “modren,” “experiance,” “diffrance,” and “probobly”—are noticeable and reduce the accuracy of the writing. Some expressions are also informal or imprecise for an academic essay, including “extra cash,” “massive advantages,” and “the shape of the industry.” Aim to check spelling carefully and choose more formal, exact phrases, while varying repeated words such as “movie” and “cinema.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of sentence forms, including a direct question in the introduction, a conditional construction (“even if it meant…”), and longer sentences explaining cause and effect. The main message is generally understandable, but some grammatical errors and punctuation problems remain. For example, “even if it meant your going to pay” needs a correctly formed clause, and “it’s nearly impossible to see the end” would be clearer with a more accurate construction. Several sentences run together, as in “available in the cinemas. For example,” and the opening question is followed by “No because…” without clear punctuation. Review possessive forms, clause boundaries, and sentence punctuation, and aim to make complex sentences controlled rather than joining several ideas loosely.
