Student answer (Band 5.0)

It said that residents prefer watching entertaining shows online instead of theatres and cinemas in the mature age. Some argue that it is still vital economically and custom. This essay will examine both views including its several impacts. It has many benefical and detrimental aspects.

Nowadays, cinemas and theatres are considered to be an old fashioned amusement acitivities as mostly people find their favourite shows (films, dramas and documentries) online. It does not even charge any cost or hardworking especially to move towards the theatre for watching a movie. Moreover, the present generation do not like to be stand in a long cue for buying a ticket of theatre as they know it is a waste of time and they shall watch this movie or drama a day after its releasing in the cinemas on the online platforms( Netflix, Disney and YouTube)totally free. The digital age people know how to manage their time in all such various activities and spend their much of time in achieving their goals. For instance, cinemas and theatres are unusual activities for the young youth as they can promote their creativity skills in that time instead of wasting a lot of hours in it by contrast, online platforms are taking advantages over the cinemas.

On the other hand, cinemas and theatres were the only places for watching entertainment shows in the past decades residents. They often combine together after several working hours to fresh their minds while watching television shows. It makes them feel relaxed and connected to the cinemas culturally. In addition, theatre and cinemas are related culturally to the older people and it also plays a role in the development of a country economy. Likewise, how many people watch shows on theatres it will lead to increasing a country economy. For example, many residents are attached with the cultures due to cinemas as it shows the older people love with it.

To conclude, I would prefer to watch shows online as it has many benefits such as not wasting money and much time.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You address both views: the first body paragraph explains the convenience and time-saving appeal of online entertainment, while the second mentions cinemas’ cultural role and contribution to the economy. Your conclusion also gives a personal preference for online viewing. However, the discussion is only partial because the economic and cultural arguments are asserted rather than clearly explained, and the example about older people’s attachment to cinema is difficult to understand. Your position is also not fully consistent: the introduction promises to examine impacts, but does not state your view, which appears only in the conclusion. Develop each side with a clear reason and a specific, relevant example, and state your opinion directly in the introduction.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. Phrases such as “On the other hand” help signal the change in viewpoint, and the reader can generally follow the broad contrast between online viewing and cinema attendance. However, progression within paragraphs is uneven: the first paragraph moves from cost and queues to time management and young people’s creativity without clearly connecting these points. Some linking expressions, including “Likewise” and “For example,” introduce ideas that do not clearly support the preceding claim. Referencing is also unclear in places, such as “it” in the cultural discussion. Organise each paragraph around one main claim, then explain and illustrate it in a logical sequence.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “digital age,” “online platforms,” “economy,” and “culturally,” which helps communicate the subject. There are also attempts to use less common expressions, such as “detrimental aspects” and “development of a country economy.” However, the range is limited by repeated general words such as “shows,” “people,” and “activities,” while several inaccurate word choices or collocations make meaning unclear. Examples include “custom” for cultural significance, “hardworking” for effort or inconvenience, and “attached with the cultures.” Spelling errors such as “benefical,” “acitivities,” and “documentries” are noticeable. Build a more precise set of topic-specific phrases and check spelling and natural word combinations.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more extended sentence forms, including clauses introduced by “as,” “while,” and “as they know.” This shows an effort to connect reasons and consequences. However, complex sentences are often faulty, and errors in agreement, articles, verb forms, and sentence construction recur. For example, “mostly people find” has incorrect word order, “the present generation do not like” has a subject–verb agreement problem, and “how many people watch shows on theatres it will lead” is not a correctly formed conditional or clause. Some sentences also run together, particularly the sentence beginning “For instance” and continuing into “by contrast.” Practise building accurate sentences with one main clause and a clearly controlled subordinate clause, then check agreement and punctuation.
