Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
You introduce both viewpoints and state a personal preference for online entertainment, so the response is relevant to the question. However, the discussion is very brief and only minimally addresses the cultural and economic importance of theatres and cinemas; the opposing view is reduced to relaxing and spending time with someone. Your reasons are not extended with specific examples or explanation, and the opinion is not fully supported. The response contains 149 words, below the required 250-word minimum; 20 words copied from the task prompt were not counted. To develop the answer, explain both sides in more depth, include relevant examples, and make your position clear throughout.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has a basic, recognisable structure: an introduction, a paragraph beginning “On the one hand,” another beginning “On the other hand,” and a concluding opinion. These markers help readers identify the two views. However, progression within the paragraphs is limited, and the second viewpoint is especially short, so the discussion does not develop in a balanced sequence. Linking is also repetitive, relying mainly on “Moreover,” “Therefor,” and the contrast phrases. Some connections between ideas are unclear, such as the move from watching films in theatres to relaxing and spending time with a favourite person. Build each paragraph around a clear main point, then explain and illustrate it with a supporting detail.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You use basic vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “convenient,” “comfortable,” “affordable,” and “important,” and the reader can generally understand your intended meaning. However, the range is limited and several words or phrases are repeated, particularly “watch,” “movies,” and “important.” There are also noticeable spelling errors, such as “belive,” “entertaiment,” “programes,” and “easiast,” as well as awkward expressions such as “in online” and “watching cinema on theatre.” These errors reduce precision and naturalness. Expand your topic vocabulary and check spelling; for example, use “stream films online” and “the shared cinema experience” to express ideas more accurately.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
Most sentences use simple patterns, and you attempt some longer structures with “as,” “Moreover,” and “because.” However, the range remains limited, and frequent errors in sentence boundaries, articles, agreement, and sentence construction sometimes make the writing difficult to follow. For example, “People can watch dramas … at home by using mobile phone” needs an article, while “it help to relax our self” has agreement and pronoun-form problems. Capitalisation and punctuation are also inconsistent, including the lowercase start “this essay” and missing spaces after full stops. Practise accurate simple sentences first, then add controlled complex sentences using clauses such as “because” and “although.”
