Student answer (Band 6.0)

Entertainment has been a significant part in humans life during all ages. Few people say that in the current advanced age theatres and cinemas are not needed as poeple can watch everything online on digital devices. While others debate that these sources of entertainment are still important both financially and culturally. In my perspective, I advocate that these sources are still needed in our society. In this essay I will discuss both sides and support my opinion.

To begin with, Some poeple believe that the cinemas and theaters are not necessary these days. Firstly, according to them technology has been developed efficiently that everyone has internet, wifi and mobile devices in the current times. People of all ages can watch their shoes online. Senondly, all the TV channels and shows are availble online and poeple do not prefer to go outside. Lastly, these visits to the theaters and cinemas are considered waste of money. The fond off watchers can enjoy the movie at very low cost or sometimes free on their personal electronic devices.

On the other hand, many people strongly argue in the favour of these entertainment sources. First of all, they take it as a way of social connections and meeting others outside the house. They firmly believe that cinemas bring financial stability in the society. People buy tickets and support the actors and producers so they can create more entertainment for community. In addition to, these shows and movies in cinemas depict our culture.

In my opinion, I am in favour of Cinemas and theaters. People struggle sometimes due to their hectic routine and work. They find some free time mostly on weekend. They get a chance to meet their friends and enjoy the movie or live show with either friends or family. This act like a simple get away for them. However, conversely it benefits the entertainment industry financially as well.

In conclusion, various poeple have different opinion about the theaters and cinema. Some say it is no longer important as we have internet and latest technology these days while some say it is still needed for the better belance of the society. I believe people should come out and enjoy as a community for entertainment.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both views and state a consistent preference for cinemas and theatres, especially in the introduction and conclusion. The discussion of online entertainment includes accessible technology, convenience and lower cost, while the opposing view mentions social connection, industry income and cultural representation. These are relevant reasons, but some are only briefly stated: for example, “these shows and movies in cinemas depict our culture” is not explained with an example, and the economic benefit is asserted rather than developed. Your own position is clear, though its support largely repeats the social and financial points already made. To strengthen the response, explain how one or two reasons work in practice and include a specific example, such as a local film industry or a shared theatrical experience.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, a paragraph giving your opinion, and a conclusion. Sequencing phrases such as “To begin with,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” make the progression easy to follow. This meets the lower-band expectation of coherent organisation and also shows some flexibility through distinct paragraph purposes. However, linking is sometimes mechanical, particularly the repeated “Firstly,” “Secondly,” and “Lastly,” and the opinion paragraph partly repeats points from the preceding discussion. Some references are also unclear, as in “This act like a simple get away,” where the referent and intended meaning could be expressed more precisely. Use fewer formulaic transitions and connect each paragraph’s ideas more explicitly.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “digital devices,” “financial stability,” “social connections,” and “hectic routine.” However, the range is limited and several inaccurate or unnatural choices reduce precision. For instance, “watch their shoes” appears to mean “shows,” “the fond off watchers” is unclear, and “in addition to” is not used naturally in its sentence. Spelling errors such as “poeple,” “Senondly,” and “availble” are noticeable, while repeated use of “important,” “needed,” and “people” limits variety. Build a more accurate set of collocations for this topic and proofread spelling. More precise expressions would help you explain the economic and cultural arguments clearly.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including a contrast clause beginning “While others debate…” and a reason clause in “as we have internet and latest technology.” Most ideas remain understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. Examples include “in humans life” (possessive form), “technology has been developed efficiently that” (incorrect clause construction), and “They get a chance … This act like” (agreement and sentence connection). Articles and prepositions are also sometimes missing or inaccurate, as in “on weekend” and “in the favour.” Sentence boundaries and punctuation need attention, including the comma after “To begin with” followed by an unnecessary capital letter. Review agreement, articles and clause formation, then check each sentence for a complete, correctly connected structure.
