Student answer (Band 5.0)
There is an ongoing debate about whether theatres and cinemas are no longer important because people can watch all the entertainment online. Others argue that these are still important both economically and culturally. Although I discuss both perspectives with valid reasons that given below.
Firstly, half population of the country are in favor of various playhouses where they collaborate with their family members and friends that considerably increase the value of our cultural events as well as economic expansions. For example, there was a cultural festival in my university where lots of games and multiple stalls in which we explored different foods. However, it is a good activity for students that equally beneficial for university because they got financial benifits by sold numerous products.
On the contrast, some people think that we are now become more involve in online activities because at that time we do not spend our money on such plateforms that easily replaceable. Furthermore, the majority of our country want to reduce their stress level by engaging themselves in peaceful environment rather than others destructions. For instance. I am a introvert person so mainly I prefer online entertainment because at that moment my focus are more on films and plays rather than other activitities.
I firmly conclude that both views are important for our economic growth and developments but at the same time I believe that online plateforms are much cheaper and convenient for us due to our individual financial conditions that we are facing nowadays.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You introduce both views and give a clear preference for online entertainment in the conclusion, so the response is relevant to the question. However, the discussion only partially addresses the specific issue of theatres and cinemas. The first body paragraph shifts to a university festival, games, and food stalls, without explaining clearly how theatres or cinemas contribute to the economy or culture. The opposing view is also only briefly developed, and the claim that online entertainment reduces stress is not compared with the cultural or economic value of venues. The response is 2 words below the required minimum. To strengthen the answer, explain each view directly and support it with a relevant example, then make your position clear throughout.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, one paragraph for each perspective, and a conclusion. Basic signposting such as “Firstly,” “On the contrast,” and “I firmly conclude” helps readers identify the stages of your argument. However, progression within the paragraphs is uneven: the university festival example does not clearly connect to cinemas or theatres, and the second paragraph moves from online convenience to stress and then to your personal preference without fully linking these points. Some linking expressions are also inaccurate or awkward, which makes the relationships between ideas less clear. Use topic sentences that directly state each view, and follow each with explanation and a closely relevant example. Clearer referencing and fewer formulaic transitions would improve the flow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “cultural events,” “economic growth,” “online entertainment,” and “financial benefits,” and the reader can generally understand your main points. There is also an attempt to use less common expressions such as “peaceful environment.” However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, including “economic expansions,” “other destructions,” and “financial benefits by sold numerous products.” Spelling errors such as “benifits,” “plateforms,” and “activitities” also reduce accuracy. Aim for precise phrases that fit the topic, such as “support local employment” or “provide a shared cultural experience,” and check spelling and collocations carefully. This would make your ideas clearer and more natural.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a concession in the introduction and a reason clause beginning “because” in the second body paragraph. However, complex structures are often faulty, and errors in agreement, verb forms, articles, and sentence construction sometimes make the meaning difficult to follow. For example, “Although I discuss both perspectives with valid reasons that given below” is an incomplete construction, while “half population … are” and “my focus are” show agreement problems. “We are now become more involve” also combines verb forms incorrectly. Practise building complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, and check agreement and tense in each clause. More accurate control of these basic patterns will make your argument easier to understand.
