Student answer (Band 5.0)
Many people believe that theaters and cinemas are no longer important because people can watch all the entertainment on online platforms at anytime however, i would argue that theaters and cinemas are still important both economically and culturally.
In recent years, after covid, people started showing interest towards Ott platforms such as Netflix, Amazon prime, Hotstar and many other; where people became so convience and adopted to this. In this digital age, projectors are introduced so that people can set theater expirence in their private places hence people stopped going to theaters. Due to increasing of movie ticket prices the middle-class movie enthusiats are leanning towards piracy eventough it is a wrong way there are doing it. piracy is result of bad According to recent reports form TFI, 60% of viewers are unwilling spend money on tickets rather than going to watch movies in theaters.
From my view, going to movie theater and watching movies with family members and friends will have a best experience and it is like a memory. This can help economically for movie industry, it a alter way to support government and business directly or indirectly. Nowadays, latest projectors are developed which it can project with high resolution and better picture quality known as neon screens. Sound systems are upgraded with clear audio quality. these are the significant things that matters while watching.
In conclusion, Movie theater gives the best expirence and can spend good time with family and friends hence it can support financially to movie production industry.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You give a clear opinion that theatres and cinemas remain important, and you mention relevant economic and social benefits, such as supporting the film industry and sharing an experience with family and friends. However, the discussion of the opposing view is only partly developed: online platforms and home projectors are mentioned, but their advantages are not explained in depth. The economic and cultural arguments for cinemas are also asserted more than supported, and the reference to a report is unclear. The response is 244 words, six words below the 250-word minimum; the nine words copied from the task prompt were not counted. Develop both sides with specific explanations and examples, and ensure the response meets the required length.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has a basic paragraph structure: the opening states your position, the middle paragraphs present points about online viewing and cinema-going, and the conclusion restates your view. Some linking expressions, including “In recent years,” “From my view,” and “In conclusion,” help signal movement between ideas. However, progression is not consistently clear: the first body paragraph shifts from streaming services to piracy and then to an unclear report, while the next moves from family experiences to economic support and technical features. Several ideas are repeated in the conclusion, and sentence connections such as “hence” do not always show a precise relationship. Group related points into a clearer sequence and use referencing and transitions more accurately.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “digital age,” “online platforms,” “movie ticket prices,” “piracy,” and “high resolution.” These choices make the subject generally understandable, and there are attempts at more specific terms such as “sound systems” and “picture quality.” However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, including “showing interest towards,” “set theater experience,” and “a best experience.” Spelling errors such as “convience,” “expirence,” and “enthusiats” also reduce precision. Aim for natural topic-specific phrases and check spelling carefully; this will help express your ideas more clearly and avoid awkward wording.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt some longer sentences and use clauses to connect ideas, for example, “Due to increasing of movie ticket prices…” and “From my view, going to movie theater…” However, the range is limited, and complex sentences are often difficult to follow because of errors in sentence structure, verb forms, articles, and punctuation. The opening joins contrasting ideas with “however” without appropriate punctuation, and “people became so convience and adopted to this” has faulty grammatical construction. Other examples include “it a alter way” and “which it can project.” Capitalisation is also inconsistent. Practise building accurate simple sentences first, then combine them with controlled clauses and check each sentence for a complete subject and verb.
