Student answer (Band 6.0)
Digitalized era are now making a lot of things accessible including watching of films. Because of this some people question the role of cinemas while others argue that going to theatres are way of keeping the economy and culture alive. In my opinion, going to cinema instead of watching movies online is more engaging aside form having bigger screen, the experience is somehow different than just watching it on your phone or laptop.
Because of the internet movies online are easily available, other people my prefer watching movies in the comfort of their homes on their TV or laptop. For instance they don't prepare themselves to go out or spent more money for snacks like popcorn and drinks. However some people argue that going to theaters are still essential as it support the entertainment industry and the culture. For example latest films are hardly available online on the same time it is showing on cinema, viewers at home have to wait for weeks or even months for it to be available online.
Also the experience of watching movies on a bigger screen is much better than on your laptop, bigger picture and sorround sound make it more exciting moreover you can invite friends to go with you as well. The experience of watching movies in theather brings people together it is a kind of feeling that is keeping the culture and tradition alive.
In conclusion, going to cinema is better than watching movies online since it gives you the oppurtunity to see it more in details and allows you to connect to people bringing you a different kind of experience.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address both views and state a clear preference for cinema-going, especially in the introduction and conclusion. The points about convenience and avoiding extra costs explain why people choose online viewing, while the later discussion of the larger screen, sound and shared experience supports the value of cinemas. However, the economic argument is only briefly mentioned: saying theatres “support the entertainment industry” would be stronger with an explanation of jobs, revenue or related businesses. The cultural point is also asserted rather than fully illustrated, and the example about films appearing online later mainly concerns release timing. Develop these ideas with specific reasons or examples so that both sides are explored more evenly and your position is better supported.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph presenting the two views, a paragraph supporting cinema-going, and a conclusion. Ideas generally progress in a sensible order, and linking expressions such as “Because of this,” “For instance” and “In conclusion” help guide the reader. Some connections are less clear or mechanical, however. The second paragraph moves from online convenience to the importance of theatres without a sufficiently smooth transition, and “However” does not clearly signal the relationship between those points. The final body paragraph combines screen quality, socialising and cultural tradition, which would be clearer if each point were explained in a more deliberate sequence. Use referencing and transitions to show how each reason supports your argument.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “comfort of their homes,” “entertainment industry,” “bigger screen” and “brings people together.” There are also attempts at more descriptive language, such as “surround sound” and “keeping the culture and tradition alive.” However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or awkward, including “Digitalized era,” “watching of films,” “going to theaters are way” and “see it more in details.” Spelling errors such as “sorround,” “theather” and “oppurtunity” also reduce accuracy. Aim for natural collocations and check spelling carefully; more precise terms for economic and cultural effects would help you express the task’s ideas with greater flexibility.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentences, including a reason clause beginning “Because of the internet” and a comparison using “better than.” The main message remains understandable, but some grammatical errors occur across the response. For example, “Digitalized era are” has an article and subject–verb agreement problem, while “other people my prefer” and “it support” contain verb-form or agreement errors. There are also issues with plural and article use in “going to theaters are still essential,” and the long sentence beginning “The experience of watching movies on a bigger screen” needs clearer punctuation between its ideas. Review agreement, articles and sentence boundaries, then practise combining ideas accurately rather than joining several clauses in one sentence.
