Student answer (Band 6.0)
The debate between theatres and cinemas are no longer important because now people can watch all the entertainment on website while others say that both are still important economically and culturally. I believe that both are vital for culture and economic sector because it shows a diverse culture of a country while the government can earn tax.
On the one hand, some people believe that it is not significant because it is available on the internet but, there is a different kind of entertainment and fun watching movies in cinemas or theatres rather than watching online. Mostly, people who cannot afford theatre or cinema bills enjoy at home watching movies online. However, they enjoy low quality video with poor sound effect. For example, in India, most people who cannot afford bills always watch movies online with low quality footage and poor sound quality. Thus, they cannot enjoy the moral and plot twists of the movie properly.
On the other hand, the government earns a large ransom of tax from theatres and cinemas which is beneficial for the society. Both entertainments also play a huge role in culture because it demonstrates different culture of a country infront of the world. Many viewers may become curious about a particular country and it can increase the international tourist visitors rate. For example, in the USA, the goverment has improved new facilities to the public in theatres and cinemas also the tourists rate are increasing day by day. As a result, the country will become more advanced in future.
In my opinion, I believe that theatres and cinemas are still essential because it highlights the culture of a country and it can make a countries economy stronger.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address both views and state a consistent opinion: cinemas and theatres remain important for cultural and economic reasons. The contrast between online viewing and the cinema experience is relevant, and you support your points with examples from India and the USA. However, some ideas are more fully addressed than others. The first view is mainly presented as a lower-cost option, while the claim that online entertainment makes venues less important could be explained more directly—for instance, by discussing convenience, choice, or reduced costs. The economic and cultural benefits are also asserted more than demonstrated; the USA example does not clearly show how cinema facilities have increased tourism. Develop each example with a clearer link to your argument.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, two contrasting body paragraphs, and a concluding opinion. Paragraphs generally focus on one side of the discussion, and signposts such as “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “In my opinion” help readers follow the structure. Some connections are less clear or feel mechanical. For example, “Thus, they cannot enjoy the moral and plot twists” does not follow convincingly from the point about poor sound and video, and the link between improved facilities and rising tourism is also unclear. The conclusion repeats the position without drawing the main arguments together. Make cause-and-effect links explicit and use referencing that clearly identifies what “it” and “both entertainments” refer to.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “diverse culture,” “international tourist visitors,” “plot twists,” and “economic sector,” so the main ideas are generally understandable. There are also attempts at less common expressions, but several choices are inaccurate or unnatural and reduce precision. “A large ransom of tax” appears to mean a large amount of tax, while “theatres and cinemas bills” and “tourists rate” are not natural collocations. “Moral” is also unclear in the context of enjoying a film. Spelling errors such as “infront” and “goverment” further affect accuracy. Aim for precise, conventional phrases and check spelling; this will make your argument sound more natural without requiring unnecessarily complex vocabulary.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including contrast and reason clauses, as in “because it is available on the internet” and “which is beneficial for the society.” Most sentences communicate the intended point, but some grammatical errors remain. The opening has a subject–verb agreement problem (“The debate … are”), and “the tourists rate are increasing” has incorrect agreement and number. Articles and possessives also need attention, as in “a countries economy” and “the society.” Punctuation around conjunctions is sometimes awkward, particularly “but, there is.” Review agreement, singular and plural forms, and article use, then proofread sentence boundaries and commas. Greater accuracy in these patterns would make your varied sentence attempts easier to read.
