Student answer (Band 6.0)
There is a common belief that the importance of theatres and cinemas have seemed to diminish with the boom of the digital era where people can afford to watch all entertainment online. While some poeple still beleives that theatres and cinemas still holds a lot of cultural and economic value. However, I totally disagree with the mass belief of people. Few arguments for the disagreement and a counter argument are explained below along with the conclusion.
Theatres and cinema hall preserves the essence and experience of watching a film on a big screen which is difficult to find while watching the same on online platforms. Many people have experienced the same movie by sitting in a hall and watching it on an online platform. Most of these people have given an unanimous conclusion that the ambient atmosphere and the experience of watching a film in a theatre is difficult to recreate in the online version. People still prefer sitting in front of a big screen with a popcorn in hand and enjoying the film than watching the same in online platforms.
Morever, it is regardless to say that theatres and cinema halls still serves as the greatest source of income for the majority of people associated with the film industry. The box office collection often serves as the major source of income to the actors and filmmakers.
Cinema halls and theatres also provide job oppurtunity to many people who works to maintain and preserve the hygeine and security of the place. Bollywood in India and Hollywood in the United States are the major hub of film production who provides job to majority of actors who wishes to work in commercial films.
However, I must have to accept that the theatres and cinema halls often cater to the needs to filmmakers who have a huge budget to produce commercial films. Thus, new filmmakers and actors who are inclined to make art film often dont get to display their work on the big screen. In such instances online platform like Netflix and Amazon Prime provides a stage to people to showcase their work of art.
All in all it can be said that, theatres and halls still serves as the major source of entertainment and holds its economical and cultural values. But, online platform comes with its own perks and provides a breakthrough to many newcomers.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address both perspectives and make your own position clear: you disagree that online entertainment has made theatres unimportant, while acknowledging that streaming services help independent filmmakers. The discussion is relevant, with examples such as the shared cinema experience, box-office income, employment, and platforms such as Netflix. However, the two sides are not developed equally. The case for theatres receives several points, while the opposing view is mainly limited to access for new filmmakers; the economic and cultural importance of theatres could also be explained more specifically. Some claims, such as the box office being a major source of income for actors and filmmakers, need qualification or support. Develop each main point with a clearer explanation or example to make the response more complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, supporting paragraphs, a paragraph acknowledging the other view, and a conclusion. Ideas generally progress in a sensible order, and linking expressions such as “Moreover,” “However,” and “All in all” help signal the stages of the argument. At times, though, the connections feel mechanical or the references are unclear. The opening promises “a counter argument” and “arguments for the disagreement,” which is an awkward guide to the essay’s structure, and “Many people have experienced the same movie” does not clearly explain the comparison that follows. The conclusion also repeats the main claim rather than drawing together the two views. Use more precise transitions and make links between examples and claims explicit.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of topic vocabulary, including “digital era,” “ambient atmosphere,” “box office collection,” “filmmakers,” and “showcase their work.” These choices help communicate the main ideas, and the meaning is generally clear. There are, however, several spelling errors and inaccurate or unnatural collocations, such as “poeple,” “oppurtunity,” “hygeine,” “regardless to say,” and “a stage to people.” Some phrases are also imprecise: “the mass belief of people” and “the greatest source of income” do not express the intended ideas naturally. Aim for accurate, conventional combinations—for example, “it is undeniable that” and “provide a platform for”—and proofread spelling. This would make your vocabulary more precise and fluent.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex forms, including a concession beginning “While some people…” and a contrast introduced by “However.” Most sentences remain understandable, but some errors in agreement, verb forms, articles, and sentence construction reduce accuracy. For example, “the importance … have seemed” should use a singular verb, while “theatres and cinema hall preserves” and “theatres and cinema halls … serves” have subject–verb agreement problems. “While some people still believe…” is a dependent clause presented as a sentence fragment, and “I must have to accept” combines modal forms incorrectly. Review agreement with singular and plural subjects, and check that subordinate clauses are attached to complete sentences. More accurate control of these patterns would strengthen your varied sentence structures.
