Student answer (Band 4.5)
In today's modern world, people believes that because of the digital era, theatres and cinemas will be not play an vital role in someone's life due to the fact is that it will be not interesting and people can easily get all the entertainment on mobile phones or online. From my perspective, during the modern period, theatres and cinemas will equally important to the online as both of it will take money to give the entertainment.
To commence with, theatres and cinemas are the major factor of fostering entertainment. Mainly the long films, podcasts, reality shows and so on can be watched on it. So I think that it will be a good for the people to watch such shows on it. As people can watch it on a big screens, relaxed sofas, air condtioners and so on. In additon, the population can gain more benefit by using these facilities but on online people can watch such shows and films on online at home or anywhere else. By contrast, people have to visit the other place and have to watch with lots people because theatre and cinemas are the other for watching and there are lots of seats which are occupied and owner can make more profit.
On the other hand, getting entertainment online is a good option but less beneficial than theatres and cinemas. For instance,

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
You introduce the topic and give a personal view, saying theatres and cinemas remain important alongside online entertainment. You also begin to discuss both options, mentioning the large screens and comfortable seating at venues and the convenience of watching at home. However, the response addresses the task only minimally: the economic and cultural importance named in the prompt is not explained, and the online-entertainment viewpoint is left unfinished after “For instance,”. Your position is also difficult to interpret in places, particularly “will equally important to the online.” The response is 23 words below the required minimum, and this limited development leaves the discussion without a complete argument or a concluding opinion. Develop each side with relevant reasons and examples, then state your view clearly at the end.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
There is an attempt to organise the response into an introduction and two body paragraphs, and signposts such as “To commence with,” “In addition,” and “On the other hand” show an effort to guide the reader. However, ideas are not arranged into a coherent overall progression. The first body paragraph shifts between venue benefits, online viewing, and owners’ profits without clearly connecting these points. The second paragraph ends abruptly after “For instance,” so the comparison and the essay’s direction remain incomplete. Some linking expressions also do not accurately signal the relationship between ideas; for example, “By contrast” introduces a point that is not clearly contrasted with the preceding sentence. Plan one paragraph for each view, use clear topic sentences, and complete the argument with a conclusion.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “digital era,” “entertainment,” “big screens,” “facilities,” and “profit,” which helps communicate the general subject. However, the range is limited and several phrases are repetitive or imprecise, such as repeated references to “shows and films” and “on online.” Some word choices make the intended meaning unclear: “theatres and cinemas are the other for watching” does not express a clear idea, and “major factor of fostering entertainment” is an unnatural collocation. Spelling slips such as “condtioners” and “additon” also reduce accuracy. Build a more precise range for discussing cultural and economic effects, and check collocations and spelling when revising.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and longer sentences, including a reason clause beginning “because of the digital era” and a comparison introduced by “but.” However, the range is limited, and errors occur frequently, sometimes making the meaning difficult to follow. Examples include “people believes,” “will be not play,” and “theatres and cinemas will equally important,” which show problems with subject–verb agreement, verb forms, and missing verbs. Articles and number are also inconsistent in “a big screens” and “with lots people.” The opening sentence combines several ideas without a clear grammatical structure, while the final paragraph is unfinished. Practise forming accurate subject–verb patterns and complete sentences before adding more complex clauses; then proofread for articles, plurals, and verb forms.
