Student answer (Band 5.5)

Its in debate that, cinema and theatres are being replaced by online entertaintment, while several people support it, others believe that those are an important element of the culture and its economically beneficial.

With the development in technology, entertaintment has been overtaken by online sites, as its more convenient and readily accessible to the public. However, I strongly belive that cinema consits of important part of our culture and economically valuble.

On the one hand, nowadys technology advances in many feild, mainly in artificial intelligennce. This tend to make new cinematographies which attract more viewers in online flatforms causing decreasing the importance of cinema.Meantime with the tight schedules people tend to watch a film using onlie, rather than going to cinema. This is a negative development to the cinema industry.

On the other hand, the cinemas consist of important cultural and social values. For instance films based on world-war consists of cultural importance.People visiting to the theatres for the entertainment, spent money on tickets and snacks will help in ecomonic growth. The experince is unique and cannnot be obtained digitally. For example, the sound effects, the atmosphere is completely unique in a theatre and is rewarding and helps in improved mental relaxation. This is helpful in society as well as film industry mutually.

In conclusion, for a great entertainment theatres and cinema is important and needs to protect, as it carries our cultural value. Although with the digital transition, entertaintment will deviate from the cinema, regulations should implement to protect this valuble industry.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both views and make your own position clear: online viewing is convenient, but cinemas and theatres retain cultural and economic value. The discussion of online platforms and busy schedules gives relevant reasons for the first view, while ticket and snack spending and the distinctive cinema experience support your position. This meets the task, although the two sides are not developed equally. The first body paragraph mainly says online entertainment reduces cinema’s importance; the claim about artificial intelligence creating films is unclear and needs explanation or a more direct example. The economic point is also brief. To strengthen the response, explain more precisely how venues support jobs or local businesses and develop a specific example for each view.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion that restates your opinion. Signposting such as “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” helps readers follow the discussion. However, some connections between ideas are abrupt or unclear. For example, the move from artificial intelligence to declining cinema attendance is not fully explained, and “This is helpful in society as well as film industry mutually” does not clearly show how the preceding points relate. Some sentences also run together, particularly around “importance of cinema.Meantime.” Use clearer sentence boundaries and linking phrases that show cause, contrast, or consequence, and make references such as “those” more precise.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a relevant range of topic vocabulary, including “readily accessible,” “cultural and social values,” “economic growth,” and “sound effects.” These choices help communicate the main ideas, and the meaning is generally recoverable. However, spelling errors and imprecise or unnatural collocations are noticeable, including “entertaintment,” “valuble,” “online flatforms,” and “important element of the culture.” Some wording is also vague, such as “new cinematographies” and “deviate from the cinema,” which makes the argument less precise. Aim to use familiar, accurate expressions rather than forcing less natural vocabulary, and proofread spelling carefully. More precise terms for the industry’s economic contribution and the shared viewing experience would make the discussion clearer.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a contrastive opening and clauses explaining why people choose online viewing. The overall meaning can usually be followed, but errors in sentence structure and grammatical control are evident. For example, “This tend to make” has a subject–verb agreement problem, while “People visiting to the theatres … spent money” does not form a clear, controlled sentence. Articles and plurals are also inconsistent in phrases such as “cinema and theatres” and “an important part.” Punctuation sometimes joins sentences incorrectly, as in “importance of cinema.Meantime.” Work on agreement, article use, and complete sentence construction, then check punctuation and sentence boundaries during revision.
