Student answer (Band 5.0)

As entertainment is most important thing for an individual. Many love to watch movies, plays for entertainment, as histroy is proof that movies/cinemas are very famous in public. Because watching movies for entertainment is running from many decades. Due to busy schedule many people dont have time to visit cinemas or theaters to watch movies or plays. This is because of work stress, peoples enjoy staying at homes and to watch movies online on TV and other platform, this saves their time and energy too. although many peoples likes to watch movies at cinema and plays at theaters, thinking watching movies on big screen in cinemas give full expirence and they also finds more entertaining than watching alone at home. they think watching movie in cinemas while having popcorns with there loved ones is more entertaining. As this also creates memories with them, and while visiting cinema and theater we get a chance to interacts with peoples like in bus or at ticket counter. But i personally feels watching movies, dramas, plays and webseries at home is more peacefull for me, just because i can sit or i can ley on my sofa while watching, i can leave the sit whenever i want to use washroom, and mainly i dont need to travel as we do when we visit cinemas or theaters. And due to today's digital age everything you want to watch like old movies and dramas we can easily get it online for free, so for me it is very cost saving and time saving too.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You give a personal view in favour of watching entertainment at home and include relevant reasons, such as convenience, lower cost, and avoiding travel. You also mention why people value cinemas and theatres, including the large screen, shared experiences, and social interaction. However, the task asks you to discuss the economic and cultural importance of these venues, and those aspects are not really addressed: the response focuses mainly on individual preferences. Your position is present, but it emerges late and is not developed through a clear comparison of both views. To strengthen the response, explain how cinemas and theatres support jobs or local businesses and preserve live performance or shared cultural experiences, then develop your own view with a specific example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The response contains ideas on both sides and ends with your own preference, so the reader can follow its general direction. However, it is presented as one long paragraph, with no clear separation between the opposing views and your opinion. Several ideas are joined by repeated connectors such as “because,” “and,” and “as,” while the opening fragments do not establish a clear progression. For example, the shift from the convenience of online viewing to the benefits of cinemas is not signposted as a new point. Organise the essay into an introduction, separate paragraphs for each view, and a conclusion. Use a wider range of linking expressions and clear references so each paragraph develops one main idea.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main points, including “big screen,” “digital age,” “entertaining,” and “time saving.” However, the range is limited and several words or phrases are repeated, particularly “watch movies,” “entertainment,” and “cinemas or theaters.” Some choices are inaccurate or informal, such as “movies/cinemas are very famous in public” and “platform,” which make parts of the argument less precise. Spelling errors, including “histroy,” “expirence,” and “peacefull,” also reduce accuracy. Aim for more precise expressions related to the task, such as “film industry,” “live performance,” and “streaming services,” and check spelling and collocations during revision.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt to connect ideas in longer sentences, for example when explaining that busy schedules lead people to watch films at home. However, complex sentences are often faulty, and frequent errors in sentence formation and agreement sometimes make the meaning difficult to follow. The opening, “As entertainment is most important thing for an individual,” is an incomplete sentence, and “many peoples likes” shows problems with plural agreement. There are also missing articles and inconsistent punctuation, as in “watching movies on big screen” and the run-on sequence beginning “But i personally feels.” Practise writing complete sentences with one main idea, then check subject–verb agreement, articles, and sentence boundaries. This will make your reasoning clearer while allowing you to retain some longer structures.
