Student answer (Band 6.0)
Due to advancement of technology the behaviour of people for consuming entertainment is changing. Many people argue that watching movies online is much more convenient and have more control over it while some argue that watching live theater and movies on big screen is still important. No doubt both means of entertainment have there unique importance but i more contend on watching it in theater and cinema.
On one hand, with the help of development in smartphones and streaming platforms. More people now incline to watch movies and series in home on there phone due to its convenience. One month low subscription allow you to watch albums of different films according to your choice. Consumer have much control over. For example streaming platform like Netflix have its basic subscription and if you watching a movie and in middle you got a work to do you can simply pause it and save it to watch it later.
On the other hand, some people have taste in watching live acts and plays on theater. Watching movies on big screen and advance sound system really makes it memorable. Now many cinemas have building IMAX, 3D and 4D screens to maximine the experience. It helps economically because it helps providing opporchunity for the local talent in theaters to act. No doubt it have some drawbacks like its cost but the overall importance it higher than simply watching it at home.
In conclusion, people watch on stream platforms just because of its ease and cost efficient and people dont have to book costly tickets but the inportance of cinemas is still quite high as the experience to get in watching it in big screen is quite unique.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You discuss both perspectives and make your preference clear in the introduction: you favour the theatre and cinema experience. The response gives relevant reasons, including streaming’s convenience and flexibility, and cinemas’ large screens, sound systems, and support for local performers. These points address the task, but they are not developed equally. The online-viewing paragraph explains pausing a film, while the cultural and economic importance of theatres is asserted more briefly; the link between cinemas and local talent could be explained with a specific example. Your conclusion restates the contrast, but your opinion could be expressed more directly and consistently. Develop the cultural and economic arguments further and clarify why they outweigh online convenience to make the response more complete and persuasive.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The essay has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. The progression from online convenience to the value of cinemas is easy to follow, and signposts such as “On one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” help orient the reader. This meets the lower-band expectation of coherent organisation and shows some of the flexibility expected at the next level. However, connections between ideas can feel mechanical, and some references are unclear—for example, “it helps economically because it helps providing opportunity” does not clearly identify what “it” refers to. Use more precise referencing and connect each example explicitly to the paragraph’s main point; vary transitions rather than relying mainly on formulaic openers.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “streaming platforms,” “subscription,” “big screen,” and “sound system.” There are also attempts at more specific expressions such as “local talent” and “cost efficient.” However, the range is limited and several word-choice, collocation, and spelling problems make the writing less natural: “albums of different films,” “incline to watch,” and “maximine the experience” are unclear or unsuitable in context. Errors such as “opporchunity” and “inportance” are noticeable. These issues do not prevent the reader from understanding the overall argument, but more accurate collocations and careful proofreading are needed. Build a bank of natural phrases for discussing access, cultural value, and the cinema experience.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a conditional example: “if you … got a work to do you can simply pause it.” The main ideas are generally understandable, but grammatical control is inconsistent, and errors occur in agreement, articles, verb forms, and sentence construction. For example, “watching movies online … have more control” has a subject–verb agreement problem, while “Consumer have much control over” is incomplete. The opening fragment “On one hand, with the help of development…” also needs to be joined to a complete clause. Practise checking each sentence for a clear subject and verb, and review articles and singular/plural agreement. More accurate complex sentences would make your reasoning easier to follow.
