Student answer (Band 5.0)

Many people believe that due to digital age the theatres and cinemas are not that important as all the entertainments can be watched online. whilie Others believe that it is still important to watch the movie in theatres and cinemas as it comes under both economically and culturally. I belive that even though the entertainment can be watched online but going and waching it in theatres and cinemas are more important.

On the one hand, theatres and cinemas are no longer important. This is beacuse, waching a movie online may be for free or it may cost less then theatres and cinemas. As a result, that money can be spend on other importent things such as childrens education, traval or ect. Futhermore, it can save traval time and the person will not have to drive to the heatres and cinemas. As a reasult, pollution will also reduce as there will be less cars on the road.

On the other hand, theatres and cinemas are important as it is a different expreance which the person can't get when that will be at home. In addition, waching a movie in theatres and cinemas can be a best way to spend time with friends and family. This is because, the family or friends can talk about the movie on the way back home.

In conclution, though the entertainment can be watched online but going to the theatres and cinemas will lead to a different exprence and as it is both economically and culturally due to that i belive theatres and cinemas are important.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You address both views and state your opinion: online viewing is presented as cheaper and more convenient, while cinemas offer a distinctive experience and a chance to spend time with others. However, the discussion is only partially developed. The economic and environmental points about online viewing are relevant, but the opposing view is supported mainly by the general claim that watching together is enjoyable. The task also asks about theatres’ and cinemas’ cultural importance, yet this is not explained; the conclusion repeats that they are culturally important without giving a reason or example. Develop each side with specific support, and make your position clearer by explaining why the shared experience outweighs the convenience of online entertainment.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. Phrases such as “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” help signal the main stages. However, progression within paragraphs is limited, and several links are mechanical or repetitive. For example, “As a result” and “This is because” are used to connect straightforward claims without developing the relationship between them. The final sentence also joins several ideas awkwardly, making the conclusion less clear. Improve cohesion by linking each supporting point directly to the argument it explains, and use clearer referencing so readers can follow what “it” refers to.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “entertainment,” “pollution,” “education,” and “spend time with friends and family.” However, the range is limited and some wording is imprecise or repetitive, particularly repeated references to “theatres and cinemas” and “watching a movie.” There are also frequent spelling errors, such as “whilie,” “beacuse,” “expreance,” and “conclution,” which make the writing look less controlled. Some collocations are unnatural, including “it comes under both economically and culturally” and “a best way.” Aim for more precise expressions and check spelling carefully; this will make your ideas easier to understand and more appropriate for an academic essay.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including a concession in “even though the entertainment can be watched online” and a reason clause beginning “This is because.” However, the range is limited, and complex sentences are often faulty. For example, “I believe that even though … but going …” combines two contrasting structures incorrectly, while “theatres and cinemas are important as it is a different experience” has unclear agreement and reference. Other errors include “money can be spend” and “the person will not have to drive,” where the verb form or phrasing is not controlled. Use one clear structure for each sentence, check subject–verb agreement and verb forms, and punctuate clauses carefully.
