Student answer (Band 5.5)

The growing prominence of discussion that in digital age, some people believes that theatres and cinema are no longer important as people can watch all the entertainment they want online while other argue that theatres and cinemas are still important both economically and culturally, this has sparked a considerable debate in contemporary society. This issue is particularly significant owing to its far-reaching impact on individulas. socities and communities. I will examine both perspectives and present my opinion before reaching a balanced conclusion.

On the one hand, some people argues that in contemporary society, most of people do not focus on theatres or cinemas due to digital and modren technology. This fact is attributed because in modern digital age people usually spent their lesiure time by using internets, phones or laptops. For instance, nowadays for the need of entertainment people mostly use phones by watching reels and on laoptops they use netflix for watching online movies or web series. Moreover, it is widely acknowledged that people sitting in their homes usually entertained by digial technology instead of going out to watch movies in cinemas or theatres. As it is free of cost or more relaxing to get entertainment online at homes.

On the other hand, some people argues that cinemas are particulalry significant in modren age for both economically and culturally. Moreover, another worth aspect is that by having day out with freinds and families to theatres for entertainment instead of sitting in homes and watch alone online screen. This is evident in situation where both cinemas and people get benefit as they enhance the economical point of view. Although people all time watching online screens would get harmful effect on their eyes, so it is fun to spend sometime entertainment at cinemas with your friends.

In conclusion, I believe that both views play an important role for providing entertainment in people's life, as in digital age, some people for entertainment do not need to go always cinemas or theatres they just have got entertainment by usjng phones, however some people usually spend their lesiure time by watching movies at theatres with their friends.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address both views and state that each has a role, so the response is relevant to the question. The first body paragraph gives examples of online entertainment, such as reels and Netflix, while the second mentions social outings and possible economic benefits. However, the discussion is only partial: the economic and cultural importance of cinemas is asserted rather than explained, and the cultural aspect receives little specific support. Your own position is also not fully clear; the conclusion says both views matter but does not explain which you find more persuasive or why. Develop each side with a clear reason and a concrete example, then state a consistent opinion. The response meets the required length; 26 words copied from the task prompt were not counted.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, one paragraph for each view, and a conclusion. The signposts “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” help readers follow the broad organisation. However, progression within paragraphs is uneven, and some links are mechanical or unclear. For example, “Moreover, another worth aspect” does not clearly connect the point about cinemas to the preceding claim, while “This is evident in situation” introduces no specific situation. The conclusion largely repeats the two positions rather than bringing the reasoning together. Use clearer topic sentences, connect each example directly to its claim, and make references such as “this” explicit to improve the flow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “digital age,” “entertainment,” “economically,” and “culturally,” and examples such as “reels” and “web series” make the discussion concrete. However, the range is limited and several inaccurate word choices or collocations make parts difficult to understand, such as “the growing prominence of discussion,” “people sitting in their homes usually entertained,” and “enhance the economical point of view.” Spelling errors, including “modren,” “lesiure,” and “particulalry,” also reduce control. Aim for precise, natural phrases rather than repeating general terms such as “people” and “entertainment.” Proofread spelling and learn common collocations for discussing cultural and economic effects.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt longer sentences and subordinate clauses, for example, “Although people all time watching online screens would get harmful effect on their eyes,” but complex structures are often faulty and the reader sometimes has to work to understand the meaning. There are frequent problems with subject–verb agreement (“some people believes,” “some people argues”), verb forms (“people usually spent”), articles and plurals (“in digital age,” “most of people”), and sentence boundaries. The opening sentence is especially difficult to follow because several ideas are joined without clear grammatical structure. Practise building accurate simple sentences first, then add one clause at a time. Check agreement, tense, articles, and punctuation when editing.
