Student answer (Band 6.5)

In comtemporary society, one group of people think that theatres and cinemas have lost their credibility as individuals can watch all of their desired entertainment online. Another group of people opposses this view with the arguement that theatres and cinemas are still carrying significance for both economically and culturally. I firmly believe theatres and cinemas are still significant for economical and cultural perspective.

On the one hand, we all are aware of the fact that technology has made it easier for people to get entertained themselves while sitting at home with the access of internet. Nowadays, several digital online streaming platforms are bringing cinemas, dramas and shows into the digital devices of consumers. Therefore, individuals can enjoy movies more comfortably without visiting theatres and cinemas. Additionally, consumers can save money by watching online as online streaming platform subscriptions require monthly payment. People can consume movies endlessly by just paying once. For instance, visiting to theatres and cinemas for a movie may cost the same amount of money a person is paying to netflix for subscription which is providing endless content to get entertained along with the latest one's.

In contrast, theatres and cinemas is still carrying noticeable significance for both culturally and economically. Theatres and cinemas generates a vast amount of money every year by ticket selling. Moreover, a number of business opportunities such as cafe, restaurant are being created because of these along with creating jobs for individuals. Besides, watching movies in theatres increases bond between people . For instance, cousins going together to watch a movie may strengthen their bond with each other and also provide the scope to make memories which may not be possible otherwise.

To colclude, in this modern era of technology although human beings are getting multiple options to get themselves entertained without visiting theatres and cinemas; theatres still cannot be overlooked consiering economical and cultural aspect.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You address both views and state a clear opinion: the introduction and conclusion support the continuing economic and cultural importance of theatres and cinemas. The online-entertainment paragraph gives relevant reasons, including convenience and the lower cost of a subscription, while the opposing paragraph mentions ticket revenue, jobs and shared experiences. This covers the task well, and the examples make the discussion relevant. However, some points are asserted rather than fully explained. For example, the claim that cinemas generate substantial income could be developed by explaining how ticket sales support the wider film industry, and the cultural case relies mainly on family bonding rather than broader cultural value. More balanced development and specific support would make the response more complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0

The essay has a clear overall structure: an introduction, one paragraph for each view, and a conclusion that restates your position. The progression from online convenience to the continuing value of cinemas is easy to follow, and signposts such as “On the one hand,” “In contrast,” and “To conclude” help readers navigate the argument. Within paragraphs, ideas generally follow a sensible order, with examples attached to relevant claims. Some linking is a little mechanical, however, and the second body paragraph moves quickly from economic benefits to social bonding. Use clearer transitions between those aspects and make references more precise—for example, clarify what “these” refers to in “because of these.” This would make cohesion more flexible and less dependent on formulaic markers.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range of topic-related vocabulary, including “digital online streaming platforms,” “subscription,” “business opportunities,” and “strengthen their bond.” These choices allow you to discuss both the financial and social dimensions of the issue. You also attempt more formal expressions such as “noticeable significance,” but some combinations are unnatural or imprecise: “lost their credibility” does not convey that cinemas have become less relevant, and “carrying significance” is not idiomatic. There are also spelling errors, including “comtemporary,” “opposses,” “arguement,” and “colclude.” Aim for accurate, natural collocations and check spelling carefully; this will make your vocabulary more precise without requiring unnecessarily complex wording.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and complex forms, including a conditional example (“cousins going together to watch a movie may strengthen their bond”) and a concession in the conclusion. Meaning remains clear, but some grammatical errors recur. Subject–verb agreement is inconsistent in “theatres and cinemas is still carrying” and “Theatres and cinemas generates”; use plural verbs. There are also issues with articles and sentence construction, as in “with the access of internet” and “visiting to theatres,” and the opening phrase “we all are aware” has an awkward word order. Punctuation spacing is inconsistent, particularly around commas and before the full stop after “people.” Review agreement, articles, and preposition patterns, then proofread punctuation to improve accuracy while retaining your range of sentence forms.
