Student answer (Band 6.0)
One one hand, some argue that in this technological era, people prefer online entertainment rather than visiting theaters and cinemas. On the other hand people argue that they are still important for public culturally and economically. This essay will discuss both views before drawing an opinion.
At present, people have little to none of spare time for entertainment. Online platforms such as Netflix, Hulu work could entertain people regardless of their location. Therefore, a number of people tend to use online platforms are increasing day by day. For instance, I used to have little to none time for visit movie theaters and cinemas when I was in the UK. The only solution was to turn to online platforms for my entertainment. They can provide entertainment even when you are walking back home after a long day. The ease of access made them famous than the cinemas and movie theaters.
However, there are some upside of going out to the movies. It is not only economically beneficial, also culturally as well. Online entertainment platforms are not free of charge. A user has to pay a monthly subscription fee for their service and it is valid for a month. However, for a person who is visiting movie theater only paying the ticket price only. Compared to the online services, it is financially beneficial. Furthermore, online users most likely to watch the movie alone or with their partner. However, in cinema, people go as a group. It is socially important to communicate with each other and build bonds. After the movie, the group discuss and enjoy the moment with each other. It helps to relax someone's mind and engage with other in a common topic.
In conclusion, I believe that it is important to visit cinema and theaters with friends and families. It helps to build stronger bonds with each others. It has economical and social advantages.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address both views and give a clear opinion in the introduction and conclusion. The first main paragraph explains the convenience of online platforms, supported by your personal example of having little time to visit cinemas. The second gives relevant economic and social reasons for attending in person. However, some points are not fully developed: the claim that cinema is financially beneficial is asserted without explaining when or for whom a ticket costs less than a subscription. The cultural importance mentioned in the prompt is also treated mainly as social bonding, rather than explored through examples such as shared cultural experiences or support for the arts. Developing these points with clearer reasoning would make the response more complete and persuasive.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. The progression from online convenience to the benefits of cinema is easy to follow, and signposts such as “On the other hand,” “For instance,” and “Furthermore” help guide the reader. This meets the lower-band expectation of coherent organisation and shows some flexibility in linking ideas. However, a few connections are mechanical or unclear. For example, “However, for a person who is visiting movie theater only paying the ticket price only” does not clearly express the comparison, and “It” in the final paragraph could refer to either visiting cinemas or the experience itself. Use more precise referencing and make comparisons explicit to strengthen the flow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough topic-related vocabulary to discuss the question, including “online platforms,” “subscription fee,” “financially beneficial,” and “build bonds.” There are also attempts at less common phrasing, such as “ease of access” and “engage with other in a common topic.” However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or awkward, which limits precision: “public culturally,” “little to none of spare time,” and “famous than the cinemas” do not sound natural in context. Some repetition of “online platforms,” “cinemas,” and “movie theaters” also narrows the range. Aim for accurate collocations and more varied terms, such as “audiences,” “streaming services,” and “shared cultural experience.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentences, including clauses introduced by “when,” “even when,” and “who,” and most ideas remain understandable. However, some grammatical errors recur in sentence construction, agreement, articles, and verb patterns. For example, “a number of people tend to use online platforms are increasing” combines two structures; “there are some upside” has a plural agreement problem; and “a person who is visiting movie theater” is missing an article. The sentence beginning “It is not only economically beneficial” also needs a clearer parallel structure. Practise building accurate comparisons and checking subject–verb agreement, articles, and clause structure; this will make your varied sentences more controlled.
