Student answer (Band 5.5)
Few people believe that in the digital age, theatres and flims are no longer essential as people can consume all the entertainment they want internet. In my perspective, i believe that both the trends have merits and drawbacks. It is very convenient to watch films on internet rather than going for theatres. If, public watches movie on the internet they will mostly miss theatre experience. Whereas, going to theatres will increases the revenue of the government by paying indirect tax.
In my opinion, i would say that it theatre plays an crucial role in our life although, it has some demerits. Suchas, the ticket rates in the movie theatres are quiet expensive for the lower middle class people. Moreover, they are unable to buy snacks and soft drinks in the intervals. Some public think that spending on movie theatres is worth because they can spend time all together. On the other hand, it provides better theatre experience suchas, sound quality, bigger screen. In addition it will increase economy on the state governement.
I strong believe that, recent years, people are becoming busy with their work, studies. Consequently online entertainment is more convenient for these people. Additionally they can pause whenever they want and they can resume it. Although it is very comfortable to consume from everywhere, sometimes we might miss watching it on theatre next to our family or friends. Futhermore, you can use subtitiles and you can also change audio to different languages. It is very beneficial to people are eagar to a learn new language.
In conclusion, the both trends have there positives and negatives. It mostly depends on the audience. I would to consume entertainment through online because spending money for one film costs you too much instead of that i would buy online streaming platforms subscriptions. Which saves my money and time.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You present a clear preference for online entertainment in the conclusion and include relevant points about convenience, cost, and the shared cinema experience. However, the discussion of the two views is uneven: the benefits of online viewing are explained in more detail, while the economic and cultural importance of theatres is mostly reduced to tax revenue, screen size, and sound quality. The task asks you to discuss both views, but the cultural role of theatres and cinemas is not really developed, and several claims would benefit from a specific example or explanation. Your position is present, though the opening statement that both trends have merits and drawbacks makes it less definite at first. Develop each side more fully and keep your opinion consistent throughout.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion, and the ideas are generally grouped by topic. You use linking expressions such as “Moreover,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” to signal relationships. However, progression is not always clear: the second paragraph moves from ticket prices to socialising, theatre quality, and government revenue without fully connecting these points. Some transitions are also awkward or repetitive, including repeated use of “such as” and the shift from theatre advantages to online convenience. The conclusion introduces the preference for online platforms but does not clearly draw together the earlier comparison. Organise each paragraph around one main view, use references that clearly identify what “it” or “they” means, and make links between claims more explicit.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a range of task-related vocabulary, including “revenue,” “indirect tax,” “streaming platforms,” “subtitles,” and “audio,” which helps communicate relevant ideas. However, the range is limited by repeated general words such as “people,” “convenient,” and “experience,” and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or unnatural. Examples include “consume from everywhere,” “spending on movie theatres is worth,” and “increase economy on the state government.” There are also noticeable spelling errors, such as “flims,” “governement,” “Futhermore,” and “subtitiles.” These do not usually prevent understanding, but they reduce precision and fluency. Build a more accurate range for discussing cultural value, affordability, and audience access, and check spelling and common word partnerships.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and complex sentences, using clauses with “although,” “whereas,” and “because,” as well as a conditional structure. However, control is inconsistent, and errors occur frequently enough to make some sentences difficult to follow. For example, “it theatre plays an crucial role” has problems with sentence structure and articles, while “the ticket rates … are quiet expensive” includes an agreement issue in the surrounding construction. Other examples include “it will increases,” “people are eagar to a learn,” and “I would to consume,” where verb forms or sentence patterns are faulty. Punctuation and capitalisation are also inconsistent, particularly after commas and at sentence beginnings. Practise accurate basic clauses first, then build complex sentences while checking subject–verb agreement, articles, and verb patterns.
