Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.0
The response identifies both sides of the debate and signals an intention to give a personal view, but it does not develop either side or state that view clearly. The opening says online access has reduced the importance of theatres and cinemas, while the opposing view is only briefly mentioned; the body begins to explain online platforms but stops before giving a complete example or reason. The task requires discussion of both views and a supported opinion, so these parts remain largely unanswered. The response also falls short of the required 250 words, leaving too little space to develop relevant ideas. To improve, explain one benefit of online entertainment, one economic or cultural role of cinemas, and your own position, supporting each with a specific example.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
There is a basic attempt to organise the response: an introduction is followed by a paragraph beginning with “On the one hand,” and linking expressions such as “However” and “It is true that” indicate relationships between ideas. This gives the reader some sense of direction. However, the paragraph is unfinished, and the response does not progress to the other view or a conclusion. The opening also combines several points without a clear development, and “On the on hand” is an inaccurate transition. Build a complete structure with an introduction, separate paragraphs for each view, and a concluding opinion. Use linking phrases to show the logic between fully explained points rather than relying on signposting alone.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The response uses some relevant topic vocabulary, including “digitalization,” “online platforms,” “economically,” and “culturally,” so the subject is generally recognisable. There is also an attempt to vary wording with “theatres,” “movies,” and “entertainment.” However, the range is limited and several spelling and word-choice errors make parts less clear, such as “beleived,” “eassily,” “acces,” and “platfroms.” Phrases such as “through the online” and “the importance … are gone” are not natural collocations. Aim for accurate, topic-specific expressions such as “streaming services,” “box-office revenue,” and “shared cultural experience,” and check spelling and phrasing carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The writer attempts both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a contrastive opening with “However” and a clause beginning “as through the online people can watch…”. The intended meaning is usually recoverable, but errors in sentence construction and agreement are frequent enough to affect clarity. For example, “the importance … are” has a subject–verb agreement problem, and “people can eassily acces to the movies” uses an incorrect grammatical pattern after “access.” The sentence beginning “It is true that” also has awkward punctuation, while the final sentence is incomplete. Practise accurate subject–verb agreement, verb patterns such as “access movies,” and complete sentence boundaries before attempting longer structures.
