Student answer (Band 5.5)
In the today's generation, many people believe that in the era of technology, film halls and theaters are no longer required as people can watch all the entertainment they want through internet. Others defend this statement saying theaters and cinemas are essential traditionally and economically. This essay will discuss about both the views and my opinion on why theaters and cinemas should be preserved.
To begin with, some people tend to believe that in the generation of rising use of arterial intelligence, going to theaters to watch movies is no longer practical and is time consuming. Thinking on this basis going to cinemas is a long process which consumes time and which might be less efficient. Nowadays people can watch any movie from pirated websites for free of cost. When they got to watch it for free paying money to watch it on cinema sounds waste of money.
On the other hand, the stand of people to save the theaters and cinemas are important. Many malls are earning a huge amount of revenue from cinema halls. Cinema halls are taken as the place of enjoyment too. Many people visit cinema halls in weekly basis to relax and watch movie peacefully which might not be possible in a family. From my opinion me must preserve cinema halls as it not only provides entertainment, but it also helps to restrict us from watching movies in any pirated website.
In conclusion, on one hand people might see cinema hall as the wastage of time and money but many people go to cinema to relax and enjoy their movie peacefully. Nevertheless, cinema hall should not be considered less important as it is the main factor of enjoyment for todays as well as older generation peoples.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You address both views and state a clear preference for preserving cinemas, especially in the introduction and the sentence “we must preserve cinema halls.” The discussion of online viewing gives relevant reasons—convenience, time and cost—while the opposing view mentions revenue and the social experience of watching a film. However, the economic and cultural importance in the prompt is only partly explored: revenue to malls is asserted without an example, and the cultural role is not really explained. The point that cinemas discourage piracy is also not developed, and the conclusion mostly repeats earlier claims. To strengthen the response, explain each main reason with a specific example and make the cultural argument explicit. The response meets the required length; nine words copied from the prompt were excluded from the count.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, one paragraph for each view, and a conclusion. Signposts such as “To begin with,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” help readers follow the discussion. This coherent structure supports the argument, although some connections are mechanical and ideas within paragraphs are not always developed in a logical sequence. For example, the claim that cinema visits may not be possible “in a family” is unclear, and the move from cinema revenue to weekly visits needs a clearer link. Referencing is also occasionally confusing, as “this statement” does not clearly identify which view is being discussed. Use more precise links between claims and examples, and ensure each paragraph develops one central point.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “pirated websites,” “revenue,” “preserve,” and “entertainment.” However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations sound unnatural, sometimes making the meaning less precise. Examples include “arterial intelligence” for artificial intelligence, “free of cost,” “in weekly basis,” and “the main factor of enjoyment.” The repeated use of “cinema halls” and “people” also limits variety. Aim to learn common collocations and use accurate terms rather than adding vocabulary that does not fit the point; artificial intelligence is not necessary to this argument. More precise alternatives such as “streaming services,” “weekly basis,” and “source of entertainment” would make the discussion clearer and more natural.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including the contrast in “not only provides entertainment, but it also helps…” and the relative clause “which might not be possible…”. However, control is inconsistent, and errors in sentence structure, agreement, articles and verb forms occur often enough to affect fluency. For example, “In the today's generation” has an incorrect article pattern, “the stand … are important” has a subject–verb agreement problem, and “When they got to watch it” uses an unsuitable tense. “From my opinion me must preserve” also needs a correct preposition and sentence punctuation. Practise checking each sentence for a clear subject and verb, consistent tense, and correct articles; then proofread punctuation and sentence boundaries.
