Student answer (Band 5.5)

In digital era some peoples believed that theaters and cinemas are no longer important as peoples can watch all the entertainment they want online. While others argue that theaters and cinemas are still important for economy and culture. I am agree that cinemas and theaters are still important and will both views.

On the one hand, many peoples argue that with development in technology it use useless to go cinemas or theaters to watch movies or tv shows because by use modern technology it is possible to acces these facilities easily. Moreover, public can watch thier favouret movies, podcast and shows at any time and any where without spending too much money and time, because cinemas charge high value and also have specific time for services. While, it is very cheap and easy to get entertaiment by using smartphones or computer.

On the other hand, some still believed that the theaters and cinemas are crucial for economy and society as they can experience the live performance of actors on stage in theaters which is impossible to watch online. In addition, movies are display on large screens cinemes and peoples feels themselves inside the movies. After that, public cinemas are collect the money which will again spend on society for the welfare and development of citizens.

In my point of views, modern technology has become our life much easy by providing facilities in every field of life but there are still many activities such as cinemas and theaters that are very important for our society, culture also for economy.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both views and state your position: you support the continuing importance of cinemas and theatres. The first body paragraph gives relevant reasons for online entertainment, including convenience, lower cost and flexible viewing; the second mentions live performance, the large-screen experience and economic benefits. This covers the task, but the two sides are not developed equally. In particular, the claim that cinema revenue is spent on public welfare is unclear and needs explanation or a more specific example. Your opinion is also repeated in the conclusion rather than fully justified. To strengthen the response, explain how cultural and economic benefits affect people, and make your own comparison of these benefits with online access more explicit. (Eight words copied from the task prompt were not counted.)

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, one paragraph for each view, and a concluding opinion. The signposts “On the one hand” and “On the other hand” help readers follow the discussion, and ideas within each paragraph are generally related. However, some connections are mechanical or unclear. For example, “After that” does not clearly show how the point about cinema revenue follows from the large-screen experience, and “While” introduces a fragment rather than a complete contrast. The conclusion also repeats the introduction without drawing the discussion together. Use linking phrases that express the precise relationship between ideas, and make sure each paragraph progresses from a main point to its explanation or example.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “development in technology,” “live performance,” “large screens” and “economy.” There are also attempts at more specific expressions, such as “welfare and development of citizens.” However, spelling and word-choice errors are noticeable and sometimes make the reader pause: “acces,” “thier,” “favouret” and “entertaiment” are examples. Some combinations are also unnatural, including “charge high value” and “movies are display.” Repetition of “people,” “important” and “watch” limits the range. Build accuracy with common collocations and check spelling carefully; for instance, use “charge high prices” and “films are shown” rather than the phrases above.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including clauses introduced by “because” and “as,” and most of the argument remains understandable. Some grammatical errors occur, however, particularly with agreement, verb forms, articles and sentence construction. Examples include “I am agree,” “it use useless,” “movies are display,” and “public cinemas are collect the money.” The sentence beginning “While, it is very cheap…” is also a fragment, and “I will both views” does not form a complete, clear clause. Practise building accurate subject–verb patterns and complete sentences before adding subordinate clauses. Careful editing for articles and plural forms would also make the ideas easier to follow.
