Student answer (Band 5.5)
With digitalization there is a growing debate between everyone according to some people theatres and cinemas are no longer considered important as most of the individuals watch everthing online. Others argue that theatres and cinemas are still important both economically and culturally. However, I believe that theatres and cinemas play a very important role and cannot be replaced by OTT platforms.
With changing times people are getting adapted to the new forms of technology however, theatres and cinemas cannot be easily replaced because they are contributing to the welfare of society as they are considered the recreational places and people do visit theatres with families and friends to enjoy their leisure time. The surrounding and ambience of a theatre is still relevant in today's society because it caters to the larger section of the population and is not only relevant to the younger generation unlike OTT. For example; People belonging to certain age group prefer watching movies in theatres than online as it creates a mood and sets the vibe. Recreational facilities are not only for people to enjoy their leisure time but they also contribute to the growth of economy. It contributes in promoting employment oppurtunites and also helps in generation of wealth. For example; So many people work in theatres to provide service as well as to maintain the theatres, these recreational areas are promoting economic growth and development.
Hence, I believe that with growing digitalization and craze for digital world the relevance of theatres and cinemas is important as it caters to the larger audience and is associated culturally as well as monetarily.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
Your position is clear: you believe theatres and cinemas remain important and cannot be replaced by online platforms. You give relevant reasons, including shared leisure, cultural relevance, employment and economic growth, with examples of families attending and staff working at venues. However, the task asks you to discuss both views, and the opposing case—that online entertainment is convenient, accessible or often cheaper—is only briefly mentioned in the opening and is not developed. The cultural and economic claims are also asserted more than explained; for instance, you could show how cinemas support local businesses or preserve shared cultural experiences. Developing both sides and supporting each point with clearer reasoning would make the response more complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has a recognisable structure, moving from an introduction to supporting reasons and a concluding opinion. The central position is easy to identify, and examples are placed near the points they illustrate. However, the body paragraph combines social, cultural and economic arguments without clear separation, so the progression is not consistently easy to follow. Linking phrases such as “however,” “for example” and “hence” are used, but some connections feel mechanical or unclear; the second “For example” introduces a general statement rather than a specific illustration. The opening sentence is also difficult to follow because several ideas are joined together. Use distinct paragraphs for the two views and your opinion, and make each paragraph develop one main point in a logical sequence.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of topic-related vocabulary, including “digitalization,” “recreational facilities,” “employment opportunities,” “generation of wealth” and “economic growth and development.” These choices help communicate the main ideas, and the meaning is generally clear. There are, however, some inaccurate or unnatural choices and repetitions. “The surrounding and ambience” is not a natural pairing, while “craze for digital world” and “associated culturally as well as monetarily” sound imprecise. “Important” and “relevant” recur without much variation, and spelling errors such as “everthing” and “oppurtunites” reduce accuracy. Aim for more precise collocations and check spelling; for example, describe the “atmosphere” of a cinema and explain its “cultural and economic significance.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex structures, including clauses with “because” and “as,” and the overall meaning remains understandable. Some sentences are controlled, such as “Others argue that theatres and cinemas are still important both economically and culturally.” However, several longer sentences contain punctuation or structural problems that make the relationships between ideas unclear. The opening sentence joins multiple clauses without effective punctuation, and in “With changing times people are getting adapted to the new forms of technology however,” the transition needs clearer sentence boundaries. There are also issues with articles and number, as in “the larger section of the population” and “certain age group.” Use shorter, well-punctuated sentences when presenting several points, and review article use and clause boundaries.
