Student answer (Band 5.0)
the given statement showing the information about that some people say that theatres and cinemas are no longer important because people watch all the entertainment online but many of the people say that theatres and cinemas are still important both economically and culturally but both things are important on their places
first of all i would have to say that in the digital age most of the electronic devices came in the market people buy them and watch movies and entertainment things on on that electronic devices such as television, mobile phones and lcd people watch movies and all other entertainment online easily thats why many of the people say that theatres and cinemas are no longer important because they want an easyway to watch entertainment they do nor want to go theatres and cinemas thats why they give importance to online movies instead of theatres and cinemas
on the other hand many of the people say that theatres and cinemas are still important both economically and culturally mostly these peoples are old mindd people they prefer theatres and cinemas instead of online movies and entertainment thats why many of the old minded people go to theatres and cinemas to watch entertainment movies they do not prefer online movies
in my opinion both are good but watch entertainment and movies in theatres and cinemas gives us a natural vibe and full enjoyment and those people who cannot go to the theatres and cinemas and watch online miss all this enjoyment and those people who are buisness person donot have a lot of time for such entertaiment they watch online

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You address both views and give a personal opinion, noting the convenience of online viewing and the enjoyment of seeing films in cinemas. However, the discussion is only partly developed: the economic and cultural importance of theatres is mentioned in the prompt but not explained, and describing supporters as “old minded people” does not provide a convincing reason. Your opinion that “both are good” is present, but it could be clearer and supported with a specific example. The response is also 3 words below the 250-word minimum; the 22 words copied from the task prompt are not counted. Develop each side with relevant reasons and examples, especially the economic and cultural arguments.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has a basic overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph about online entertainment, a paragraph presenting the opposing view, and a concluding opinion. This makes the main direction understandable. However, progression within paragraphs is limited, and ideas are often repeated rather than extended—for example, the first body paragraph repeatedly says people watch entertainment online and therefore do not go to cinemas. Linking phrases such as “first of all” and “on the other hand” help signal contrast, but connections between individual claims are sometimes unclear. Use clearer topic sentences, develop one reason at a time, and connect each reason to an example or consequence to create a more logical progression.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use enough basic vocabulary to communicate the main topic, including “digital age,” “electronic devices,” “online,” and “natural vibe.” However, the range is limited and several words or phrases are repeated, particularly “theatres and cinemas,” “entertainment,” and “many of the people.” Some choices are imprecise or unsuitable for an academic essay: “old minded people” is an unfair and unclear description, while “natural vibe” is informal and does not precisely explain the cinema experience. There are also spelling errors such as “buisness” and “entertaiment.” Aim for more precise topic vocabulary and formal collocations, and check spelling carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt to express reasons and contrast, including longer sentences with “because” and “thats why,” but the range of sentence structures remains limited. Many sentences run together without appropriate punctuation, as in the opening paragraph and the sentence beginning “in the digital age most of the electronic devices came in the market.” Errors in sentence boundaries, articles, verb forms, and agreement occur frequently enough to make parts of the response difficult to follow. For example, “people buy them and watch” shifts awkwardly from the past-tense “came,” and “those people who is” would require agreement if used. Practise writing shorter, complete sentences first, then add subordinate clauses while checking tense, articles, and punctuation.
