Student answer (Band 6.0)
A proportion of people belivies that with the advancement of the technology, typical theatres and cinemas are of no importance as all type of entertainment is available on internet. However, the critics contend that theatres and cinemas plays vital role in economic and cultural growth of a country. From my perspective, digital media along with contemprary media both are of equal improtance as one provide entertainment at the comfort of the house, while the later plays vital role in socio-economic as well as cultural growth of the country.
To begin with the digital media, all types of entertainment such as songs, documentaries and movies are easily available on the internet. The person can access them instantly without waiting in a queue to buy ticket, or to commute to reach the venue, thereby reducing fuel comsumption. In addition to that people can watch films at the comfort of their home and had the control to stop and play according their wish. Some websites offer free films and documentary which is economic friendly as it save the cost of the tickets. However, staying at home and watching film alone everyday is causing lonliness among individuals.
On the other hand, theatres and cinemas of great socio-cultural importance. They play a vital role in promoting culture and heritage of the country. Going to cinema will help people to connect with the society and it also allow families to spend quality time with eachother. Many new cinemas had been opened up, for instance, Vox cinema they are striving to provide audience the comfort of home along with new experience by introducing 4D entertainment. Online tickets can also be bought to avoid queue.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address both views and state a clear position: online entertainment is convenient, while cinemas and theatres retain social, economic and cultural value. Relevant support includes avoiding travel and queues, watching at home, and cinemas promoting shared experiences. However, the two sides are not developed equally. The online paragraph gives several practical benefits, but the claim that home viewing causes loneliness is asserted rather than explained or supported. The discussion of economic importance is also limited: you mention new cinemas opening, but do not explain how they contribute to employment or the wider economy. Develop these points with a specific example or explanation, and make the comparison in your conclusion explicit; this would make the response more fully developed.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, one paragraph for online entertainment and one for cinemas, with a position stated at the start. Transitions such as “To begin with” and “On the other hand” help readers follow the contrast, and ideas within the online paragraph generally progress from access to convenience. This already gives the essay a coherent structure. To make progression more consistently smooth, clarify links between claims: the shift from home viewing’s convenience to loneliness is abrupt, and the cinema paragraph moves from cultural value to family time and then to Vox without explaining how the example supports the economic point. A concluding paragraph would also bring the discussion together and reinforce your position.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of topic vocabulary, including “digital media,” “documentaries,” “commute,” “cultural growth,” and “quality time.” These choices make the main ideas clear, and phrases such as “4D entertainment” add relevant specificity. There are, however, several spelling errors and imprecise or unnatural collocations, including “belivies,” “comsumption,” “economic friendly,” and “at the comfort of their home.” “Typical theatres” is also not a natural way to describe conventional venues. Aim for accurate, natural combinations and check spelling carefully; this would make your vocabulary more precise and fluent without needing unnecessarily complex words.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including a sentence beginning “while” to contrast the roles of online and in-person entertainment, and a clause explaining that viewers can stop and play films. The meaning is generally understandable, but some errors in agreement, articles, verb forms and sentence boundaries remain. For example, “theatres and cinemas plays” should use a plural verb, while “it also allow families” needs agreement; “had the control” is an inaccurate verb form in this context. The final sentence beginning “Many new cinemas had been opened up” also runs into a comma splice. Review subject–verb agreement and tense consistency, and separate or join clauses with appropriate punctuation. More accurate control of these patterns would strengthen the range you already attempt.
