Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You address both views and give a concluding preference for the value of cinemas, mentioning employment, cultural benefits and the convenience of online viewing. These points are relevant, but the discussion is only partly developed. The online-viewing paragraph focuses mainly on busy schedules and saving time, while the opposing view introduces jobs and the big-screen experience without explaining the cultural contribution in much detail. Your own position is also not fully clear: the conclusion lists advantages of both options but does not state which view you support overall. To strengthen the response, explain each main reason with a specific example and make your opinion explicit in the introduction and conclusion.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. This helps the reader follow the broad direction of the discussion. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes unclear, and some linking is mechanical or awkward. For example, “While on the other hand” combines two contrasting signals, and the conclusion moves between the benefits of cinemas and home viewing without resolving the comparison. Some sentences also run together, as in the example about students and office workers, making the relationship between ideas harder to follow. Use clearer topic sentences, divide long sentences where needed, and connect each supporting point directly to the paragraph’s main claim.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “directors,” “makeup artists,” “big screen,” and “comfortable seats.” However, the range is limited and several noticeable word-choice, collocation, and spelling errors make parts of the response less natural. Phrases such as “action zone,” “all the enjoyment,” and “comfort zone” do not express the intended ideas precisely; “movies” is also repeatedly misspelled as “moives.” Some wording is vague, particularly “provides culture.” Build a more accurate set of expressions for discussing entertainment, employment and cultural value, and check spelling carefully. More precise vocabulary would make your arguments clearer without requiring unnecessarily complex words.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a conditional idea in “if one easily saw there no need to go to cinemas.” However, complex structures are often faulty, and errors in agreement, articles, verb forms and sentence boundaries occur throughout. Examples include “Others believes,” “it help,” and “watching a moive … provides,” where the subject and verb do not agree. The sentence beginning “Few individuals believe that this is only wastage…” also joins ideas without a clear grammatical structure, while “gave time to itself” uses an unsuitable verb form and pronoun. Practise building accurate sentences with one main clause and a clearly connected supporting clause, then check agreement and punctuation.
