Student answer (Band 5.5)
In modern times, people argue that value of theatres and cinemas is no longer the same as it was in the past because of how everything is available to watch online but many think that they rae still important for the economy and culture of a country.
Getting together with your friends and family to go and watch theatre shows or movies in cinemas is an experience of its own, it helps in the development of social skills as well as how to navigate outside of your personal space.
With the advancement in technology now almost everything can be done in the comfort of your home, while many people now prefer less interactions and find peace in their own company this progress may be beneficial for them.
In my opinion, nothing should be wiped out completely even if the improvement in technology has made it easily accessible some things must still remain a part of society to preserve its culture.
Moreover, cinemas and theatres also pay a huge part in a country's economic reforms so getting rid of them will also impact the economy negatively.
These things had a strong, positive influence on the upbringing of older generations so they must be safeguarded for the newer generations as well.
The Modern era has already significantly made the younger generation lazier by providing them with all the facilities in their comfort zone and on the tip of their fingers, going out of it helps them develop social skills important for navigating through everyday tasks.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You give a relevant opinion: theatres and cinemas should not disappear, and you mention cultural preservation, social development and economic effects. These points show a response to the topic, but the two views are not discussed with equal clarity. The case for online entertainment is only briefly suggested through the convenience of watching at home and people preferring their own company; it needs a fuller explanation, such as affordability, choice or accessibility. Your economic claim that these venues “pay a huge part” in economic reforms is also unclear and unsupported. The opinion is present, but it would be stronger if each main point were explained and illustrated with a specific example, and the conclusion clearly brought the discussion together.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has a recognisable sequence: it introduces the debate, considers social experiences and home viewing, then states your opinion and adds cultural and economic reasons. However, the progression between these points is not consistently clear. For example, “In my opinion” introduces your position before the later paragraphs return to supporting reasons, while the final sentence repeats the social-skills argument rather than providing a clear conclusion. Most ideas are presented in separate paragraphs, but the links between them are limited, and some sentences contain several ideas without clear connections. Organise the essay into a clearer introduction, one paragraph for each view, and a concluding paragraph; use linking phrases to show how each point relates to the question.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of topic-related vocabulary, including “advancement in technology,” “preserve its culture,” “economic” and “social skills.” These expressions help communicate your main ideas, and the meaning is generally understandable. There are, however, several inaccurate or unnatural choices that reduce precision: “pay a huge part” does not express the intended economic contribution, and “economic reforms” is not a clear description of the benefits these venues provide. “Wiped out” is also rather informal for this essay. Aim to use more precise collocations and check spelling, as in “rae” for “are.” More accurate phrasing would make your arguments sound clearer and more appropriately academic.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mixture of simple and complex structures, including a contrast with “while” and a conditional idea in “even if the improvement in technology has made it easily accessible.” The main message is usually clear, but some sentence structures and punctuation need more control. The opening sentence joins contrasting ideas with “but” without a clear boundary, and the sentence beginning “Getting together with your friends and family” is a comma splice. In “nothing should be wiped out completely even if…,” the clauses would be clearer with appropriate punctuation. There are also article and agreement issues, such as “the value of theatres” and “the improvement in technology has made…”. Practise separating independent clauses and checking articles and subject–verb agreement.
