Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You address both views and give a clear preference in the conclusion: theatres and cinemas remain important. Relevant points include online viewing being convenient and venues providing jobs and cultural performances. However, these ideas are brief and only lightly supported; for example, the economic point lists workers but does not explain the wider benefit, while the cultural point is not illustrated with a specific example. The opening also includes an unrelated point about students getting help online, which weakens the focus. The response contains 230 words, so it is 20 words below the 250-word minimum; the 23 words copied from the prompt were not counted. Develop each main point with explanation or an example and ensure the response meets the required length.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, one paragraph for each view, and a conclusion. The signposts “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” help readers follow the basic contrast. However, progression within paragraphs is limited, and some connections feel abrupt. The point about students receiving online help appears in the introduction but is not developed as part of the entertainment discussion. Linking words such as “Secondly” and “Furthermore” introduce points, but the ideas that follow are not fully explained or connected. Improve the flow by keeping each paragraph focused on one central claim, then adding a reason or example before moving to the next point.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “digital age,” “access to internet,” “employment opportunities,” and “traditional performances.” However, the range is limited and several inaccurate or repetitive choices make the writing less precise. “Noticeable” is used where “important” or “significant” is intended, and “vital rule” does not express the intended meaning of a key role. There are also spelling errors such as “chnged,” “freinds,” and “privide,” alongside repeated use of “modern” and “significant.” Build a more accurate range of collocations and check spelling carefully; this will make your arguments clearer and more natural.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including the contrast in “although online entertainment is convenient and popular, I think theatres and cinemas are still major.” However, errors occur frequently and sometimes make the reader pause. Examples include “Others believes” and “they plays,” where the verb does not agree with its subject, and “They provides,” which has the same problem. Some sentences run together without appropriate punctuation, particularly in the introduction, while inconsistent capitalisation after full stops also affects accuracy. Practise subject–verb agreement and sentence boundaries, and proofread each sentence for a clear subject, verb, and punctuation. More accurate control of these basic patterns will support your attempts at longer sentences.
