Student answer (Band 5.5)
People often argue that theatres and movies are not that significant anymore due to the growing popularity of digital platforms while some debate that they contribute to both economical and cultural aspects.
The reason why people prefer digital platforms over traditional cinema halls and theatres is because of the wide range of flexibility these platforms offer such as one can access movies or shows anytime of their preffered genre at their comfort,it cuts down efforts of travelling as well as its a cheaper option since one can rewatch or choose to watch number of movies with the same subscription. Moreover, it saves the expenditure on snacks that are ridiculously pricey.
While on the other hand, some people choose cinema halls and theatre experience over digital platforms because they enjoy the collective celebration of hooting, whistling howling when their favourite actor shows up on the big screen. In addition to this, the visual and audio effects are unbeatable by any digital platform. For an instance, lets talk about watching "The Avatar-way of water" in a 3 dimensional experience along with your loved ones is a feeling unmatched. The admisnistration levies certain taxes on these theatres and cinemas which directly contributes towards the welfare of the small scale workers in the entertainment industry. In addition to that its helps to preserve the cultural heritage as well.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You introduce both views and give relevant reasons: online services offer convenience and lower costs, while cinemas provide a shared experience and distinctive audiovisual effects. The Avatar example helps illustrate the second view, and you also mention employment and cultural heritage. However, the response addresses the task only partially because the discussion is brief and several points are asserted rather than explained. Most importantly, “In my opinion” is left unfinished, so your own position is not stated, despite the task explicitly asking for it. The response also falls 28 words short of the required minimum. To strengthen the answer, complete a clear opinion, develop each side with explanation or examples, and write at least 250 words.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a basic overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph about online viewing, and a paragraph about cinemas and theatres. Linking expressions such as “Moreover” and “In addition to this” help signal added points. However, progression is uneven: the second body paragraph shifts quickly from audience enjoyment to technical effects, taxation, workers, and heritage without showing how these ideas connect. “While on the other hand” is also an awkward, redundant transition, and the final line, “In my opinion,” leaves the essay without a conclusion or completed position. Organise the discussion into clearly focused paragraphs, use transitions that express the precise relationship between ideas, and finish with a concise conclusion.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “digital platforms,” “collective celebration,” “visual and audio effects,” and “cultural heritage,” which makes the main ideas understandable. There are also attempts at more specific phrasing, such as “small scale workers.” However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or informal: “economical aspects” is less natural than “economic benefits,” and “theatre experience” would be clearer as “the theatrical experience.” Spelling errors such as “preffered” and “admisnistration” are noticeable, while “ridiculously pricey” is conversational for an academic essay. Aim for accurate, formal expressions and check spelling; this will make your vocabulary more precise without requiring unnecessarily complex words.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt some complex sentence forms, particularly when explaining the convenience of online platforms, and the main meaning is generally recoverable. However, complex sentences are often faulty or difficult to follow. For example, “The reason why people prefer … is because … such as one can access” combines structures awkwardly, while the long sentence beginning “Moreover, it saves…” runs several ideas together. There are also errors in sentence boundaries and punctuation, such as missing spaces after commas and the full stop after “big screen.” The unfinished “In my opinion” is not a complete sentence. Practise building shorter, controlled sentences first, then combine ideas with accurate clauses and punctuation.
