Student answer (Band 6.0)

It is often argued that in present era, theatres and cinemas are no longer significant to people as individuals can watch all these multimedia digitally while other argue that theatres and cinemas are still prevalent due to economic and cultural prospects. This essay will discuss on both views and give my opinion on it.

On the one hand, Theatres and cinemas are not significant. Streaming sites broadcast new films instantly which is freely available for users anytime and anywhere. In the past, there were not many sources of entertainment and information source so theatres and cinemas were a crucial spot for gaining it but in the fast paced modern world everything is available in internet within minutes from different countries transcending the national boundaries. In addition, people had to pay money to cinemas but watching online solves that problem. For example, fmovies stream movies online free of charge as a result people watch on their screen without paying money to cinemas and theatres However netfilix charge a monthly subscription and provides high quality movies.

On the other hand, theatres and cinemas are still important both economically and culturally.Theatres and cinemas helps to boost the economy and preserve cultural values. The act, choregraphy and direction of theatre holds the cultural value and helps to pass the message through live acting influencing audience in real world scenario whereas cinema hall serves high quality movie with better visual and audio experience to audience providing employment opportunities to multiple people to manage that as a result boosts economy.

In conclusion, theatres and cinema are not paramount as it used to be but is still important both economically and culturally. In my view,Although theatres and cinema are not prevalent it serves a better visual and audio experience and helps to boost the economy and distributes the cultural values through storytelling.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both views and give a clear overall opinion: online access has reduced the importance of cinemas, but theatres and cinemas still offer cultural and economic value. The examples of free streaming and employment in cinema support relevant points. However, the two sides are not developed equally: the online argument includes several related points, while the cultural and economic case is asserted more than explained. For instance, you mention theatre’s role in passing on messages and cinema’s employment opportunities, but do not give a specific example or explain their wider impact. Your conclusion repeats your position, though “not prevalent” does not precisely express the idea that these venues are less important than before. Develop each main claim with a clearer explanation or example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure, with an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. The progression from online convenience to the continuing cultural and economic roles is easy to follow. You also use linking expressions such as “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion,” which help signal the argument. To make the organisation more controlled, avoid packing several points into long sentences, particularly in the first body paragraph, where access, cost, and streaming examples run together. Some links are mechanical or unclear: “as a result” is used where the relationship between ideas needs more precise explanation. Check punctuation around transitions and separate the Netflix example from the preceding sentence.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range of topic vocabulary, including “streaming sites,” “national boundaries,” “cultural values,” “employment opportunities,” and “visual and audio experience.” These choices make the subject clear, and you attempt some less common expressions. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “discuss on both views,” “crucial spot,” “available in internet,” and “distributes the cultural values.” Spelling errors such as “choregraphy” and “netfilix” also reduce accuracy. Aim for precise, natural combinations rather than formal-sounding phrases that do not fit the context. For example, describe venues as “cultural institutions” and say that they “preserve and transmit cultural traditions.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including clauses introduced by “which,” “whereas,” and “as a result,” and your meaning is generally understandable. Some grammatical errors remain, especially with articles, agreement, and sentence boundaries. For example, “in present era” needs an article, “Theatres and cinemas helps” has a subject–verb agreement error, and “theatres and cinema … is still important” does not maintain agreement between the subject and verb. Several sentences run together without appropriate punctuation, notably the streaming example and the long sentence beginning “In the past.” Use full stops to control sentence length, and check singular/plural agreement and article use during revision. More consistently accurate complex sentences would strengthen the response.
