Student answer (Band 5.0)

Certain individuals express that media age, theaters and cinemas are not significant for the life-style of the people, as laymen can watch all the entertainment in the internet; whereas other counter-claim and state that theatres and cinemas are still vital for monetarily and philosophically. Therefore, priar to my decision, both the views are elaborated in the following paragraphs.

Discussing the former view, the foremost argument put forward by the supporters is that in recent days public prefer to watch films and movies in the internet in cheap prices because it is quite flexible and relaxable at a same time. For example, folks watch movies at home in there personal theatre even they can purchase movies from the website even though they can watch whenever they want to. Hence, most of the people prefer home theatre because it is quite cheap and flexible.

On the contrary, the proponents of the notion advocate that theatres and cinemas are actually better for the big families and friends since they can enjoy the better sound quality even massive screen to enjoy the movie. Furthermore, there is lack of personal space in cinemas and theatre despite of some people may distrub by the taking with each other or phone calls. For instance, an family visit to the cinemas and they are talking middle of the movies which can distrub and others. As a result, in cinemas there is lack of privacy and distrubance.

To conclude and offer my opinion, I would firmly bolster the first view that in the internet movies are less expensive and adjustable and second view rather than the theatre have lack of privacy and distrubance

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You introduce both perspectives and state a preference for online viewing in the conclusion, so the response is relevant to the question. However, the discussion only partially fulfils the task: the economic and cultural importance of theatres and cinemas is not explained. Instead, the second body paragraph mainly describes their disadvantages, such as noise and lack of privacy, which does not support the view presented in the prompt. The online-viewing argument is also repeated rather than developed with distinct reasons or a specific example. Make your position clear from the introduction, explain both sides as they are framed in the question, and support each with relevant details before giving a reasoned conclusion.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion, and signposts such as “Discussing the former view” and “On the contrary” help identify the intended structure. However, progression within the paragraphs is limited: the first repeats that online viewing is cheap and flexible, while the second shifts from the benefits of cinemas to complaints about disturbance without clearly connecting these points. Some linking expressions are also used mechanically, and the conclusion does not clearly synthesise the discussion. Organise each body paragraph around one main argument, develop it with an explanation and example, and use references and transitions that show how each sentence advances that argument.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You attempt a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “flexible,” “sound quality,” “personal space” and “privacy.” However, word choice and collocation are often inaccurate or unnatural, which sometimes makes the intended meaning difficult to follow. For example, “media age” is not a natural way to introduce the digital context, “monetarily and philosophically” does not express the economic and cultural value in the prompt, and “relaxable” is unsuitable for describing watching films. Spelling errors such as “distrubance” also reduce accuracy. Aim for precise, familiar collocations rather than formal-sounding words used incorrectly, and check spelling and word forms carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including clauses introduced by “because” and “even though,” but complex structures are often faulty and errors occur frequently. Examples include “public prefer” and “an family,” where agreement or article use is incorrect, and “in there personal theatre,” where the pronoun form is wrong. The sentence beginning “Furthermore” is difficult to follow because its clauses are not joined in a clear grammatical structure. There are also problems with prepositions and sentence boundaries. Practise building accurate basic sentences first, then add subordinate clauses, checking subject–verb agreement, articles, pronouns and punctuation in each sentence.
