Student answer (Band 5.5)

In recent years, modern technology and internet has significant in human life. Due to the advancement of technology, some people argued that cinema halls are not important whereas some people consider the importance of theatres and cinema halls are relevant regarding various prespect like economy and culture. I beleive that cinemas are still relevant.

On the one hand, supporter of modern technology beleive that cinemas and threaters are not relevant in modern times because all the entertainment is availaible online. They think that going to cinema hall is waste of money as they find various movies in online at free of cost. They also consider going to cinema as waste of time as the sufficient amount of time is required for them to travel when the hall is far from their home. So,from the prespective of both time and money, they consider theater as unconvinient in modern days.

On the other hand, individuals who think cinema hall is still relevant argued that it provides real time experince to watch movies in big screen and also provides sufficent quality time to speend with loved one. Cinema hall contribute both economically and culturally. To watch cinema in threater, people need tickets and by selling tickets money can be earned. Various restaurants and fast food centers can be opned near threaters which also contribute for economic development. Movies can also preserve our cultures by showing our ancient historic events.

In conclusion,I believe cinema halls are still important for economic development and to preserve our cultures through actors and actress.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You discuss both views and state your position clearly in the introduction (“I believe that cinemas are still relevant”), then reaffirm it in the conclusion. The points about online access being cheaper and more convenient, and cinemas supporting businesses and cultural preservation, are relevant to the prompt. However, the discussion is only partly developed: the online-viewing argument is mostly about cost and travel, while the economic and cultural benefits are asserted rather than explained with a specific example or fuller reasoning. Your opinion is clear, but it would be stronger if you explained why the shared cinema experience or cultural role outweighs the convenience of online entertainment. Develop each main point with a concrete example and a clearer explanation of its significance.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a coherent overall arrangement: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. The signposts “On the one hand” and “On the other hand” make the contrast easy to follow, and the ideas within each paragraph generally stay on topic. Some linking is mechanical, however, and the repeated use of “They” and “also” makes the progression less smooth. The final paragraph repeats the position but does not draw together the two sides of the discussion. Improve cohesion by varying transitions and using clearer references to the groups being discussed. You could also connect each example explicitly to the paragraph’s main claim, so the reasoning develops rather than reading as a list.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “economic development,” “preserve our cultures,” and “historic events,” so the main ideas remain understandable. However, the range is limited and several noticeable spelling, word-form, and collocation errors reduce precision, such as “prespect,” “beleive,” “availiable,” and “real time experince.” Some phrases are also unnatural, including “find various movies in online” and “contribute for economic development.” These errors do not prevent the reader from understanding the overall argument, but they make the writing less fluent and sometimes require extra effort. Check spelling carefully and learn common word partnerships, especially for discussing access, convenience, cultural value, and economic effects.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a contrastive opening and a reason clause in “because all the entertainment is available online.” The overall meaning is usually recoverable, but errors occur frequently in agreement, articles, verb forms, and sentence construction. For example, “modern technology and internet has” needs a plural verb and an article, while “cinema hall contribute” has a subject–verb agreement error. The sentence beginning “individuals who think cinema hall is still relevant argued” also shifts awkwardly between present and past forms. Work on checking each sentence’s subject and verb, and keep tense consistent. Practise accurate article use and build complex sentences from shorter, correct clauses before adding more detail.
