Student answer (Band 6.0)

University education plays a very important role in professional career. Some courses offered by the universities include an excahnge programs or some work placements and some universities do not include them .Personally I think that all university undergraduate courses should include a period of time spent in exchange programs or doing a work placement , as to me it has some huge advantages but also has its drawbacks.

Universities should definitely include a short period of time spent studying abroad or a work placement becuase these play a very important role in ones professional career as doing so would let the students experience the exposure of how the world is evolving and what they can conribute towards the society.Along with this the students also expericence how the practical life works. This also eventually leads the students to get a clear view of what they want to persue as a professional career and select their major subject to study according to their understanding of how the industry works. This can also teach the students the hardships and the problems that they might face in a work placement and make them ready for the future ahead .Handling such pressure is not an easy task ,so therefore experiencing such progressive initiatives set by the universities can enhance the students confidence and their understanding for the future ahead.

Although this has a huge advantage , but it also has soe drawbacks such as if the students are offered such courses and they experience this early in their study life without enough knowledge they might now get enough understing of how the industry works. Also this might ignite a sense of depression and anxiety thinking that they are not educated enough or they are not experienced enough to enter the real world.

Overall it can be said that such initiatives if taken can be very useful for the students for their professional life .Although this might have some drawbacks but still it's advantafes definitely outweights its drawbacks.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both the requirement for a placement or overseas study and whether its benefits outweigh its drawbacks. Your position is clear: you support including these experiences, and the conclusion states that the advantages outweigh the disadvantages. Relevant benefits include gaining practical insight, clarifying career choices and building confidence. However, the drawbacks receive much less development: you mention anxiety and students’ lack of preparation, but do not explain how these concerns might be addressed or weigh them directly against the benefits. Some claims, such as exposure to “how the world is evolving,” are also broad. Develop the counterargument and support key points with a specific example to make the comparison more convincing. Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a coherent overall structure, moving from an introduction to benefits, drawbacks and a conclusion. Paragraphing helps the reader distinguish the main stages of the argument, and linking expressions such as “Along with this,” “Although” and “Overall” signal relationships between ideas. However, the benefits paragraph contains many points in one long sequence, so the progression becomes difficult to follow; several sentences repeat the idea of preparing students for the future. The contrast in “Although this has a huge advantage, but…” is also awkward, and references such as “this” can be unclear. Group related benefits and drawbacks more distinctly, and use linking devices selectively to make the argument’s progression smoother.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a relevant range of vocabulary, including “professional career,” “practical life,” “industry” and “anxiety,” which allows you to discuss both employment preparation and possible emotional effects. There are also attempts at more specific phrasing, such as “enhance the students’ confidence.” However, spelling errors—including “excahnge,” “becuase,” “conribute” and “advantafes”—are noticeable, and some word choices or collocations are imprecise. For example, “experience the exposure of how the world is evolving” is unnatural, while “understanding for the future ahead” is vague. Aim for accurate, natural combinations such as “gain practical experience” and proofread carefully for spelling and word forms.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including clauses with “because,” “as” and “although,” and the main ideas remain understandable. Some sentences are grammatically controlled, such as “This can also teach the students the hardships and the problems that they might face in a work placement.” However, some errors in sentence structure, agreement, articles and punctuation reduce accuracy. For instance, “University education plays a very important role in professional career” needs an article, and “its advantages definitely outweighs its drawbacks” has a subject–verb agreement error. Several sentences also run together without appropriate punctuation. Practise checking sentence boundaries, articles and agreement, while retaining your attempts at complex structures.
