Student answer (Band 6.5)

In modern world it is highly argued that bachelor courses should incorporate international study programme or doing work internship. I think that the advantages of this programme outweighs the disadvantages. Both advantages and disadvantages are elaborated in detail with significant example in ensuing paragraphs.

The foremost advantage of this is the greater opportunity. This programme will open a completely new path for students to pursue their career of their interest, as they will be able to work and find out the field of their interest. For instance, this will allow them to have an experience of working life and choose their career wisely. In addition to that, it will allow student to explore and understand the outer world. This will improve their knowledge and will broaden their perspective of thinking. For example, they will be able to learn about the foreign country's culture and traditions. Therefore, it can improve the life experience of the students.

There are few disadvantages, as this trend tends to create a distance between student and its family in terms of emotional connection. Moreover, it has chances that students may be distracted from studies and results in lower academic score. There are chances that they can also get addicted to drugs and alcohol, as no one is there to supervise their activities. Thus, if proper precautions are not taken to the issues than it tends to ruin students career.

In conclusion, I reaffirm my statement that the advantages of this would outweigh the disadvantage. It is evident that p

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. While you mention benefits like career exploration and cultural understanding, these points lack depth and specific, well-explained examples. The disadvantages section is also quite general, relying on speculative claims about drug use and academic failure without providing a balanced or nuanced argument. To reach a higher band, you should expand on your points with more detailed reasoning and concrete, real-world examples rather than listing potential outcomes. The conclusion is also incomplete, which impacts the overall task completion.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. You use some cohesive devices such as 'In addition to that', 'For instance', and 'Therefore' to link sentences. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or repetitive. Additionally, the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the phrase 'distance between student and its family', where the pronoun 'its' is used incorrectly to refer to a person. Paragraphing is present, but the final paragraph is cut off, which disrupts the overall coherence of the response.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to convey your meaning clearly. You use some topic-specific terms like 'internship', 'academic score', and 'supervise'. However, the range is limited, and there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'highly argued' (instead of 'widely debated') and 'ruin students career' (instead of 'jeopardize students' careers'). There is little evidence of less common or more sophisticated vocabulary. To improve, focus on using more precise academic collocations and varying your word choices to avoid repetition.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('advantages... outweighs'), missing articles ('the bachelor courses'), and incorrect pronoun usage ('student and its family'). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are errors in possessive forms ('students career'). While these errors do not significantly impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and article usage would be highly beneficial.
