Student answer (Band 7.0)
Over the past few decades, a considerable number of indiviuals already going abroad for study and training purpose. While this trend has few drawbacks, from my perspective the advantages of such trend outweigh disadvantages. In this essay before reaching to the logical conclusion I will discuss both the benefits and the drawbacks of trend.
To begin with, the first and most benefit of such trend is exposure to different culture. By spending time while studying abroad makes student expose to other side of the world. It enhances students's several capabilitities and provides life long lesson. Furthermore, the courses intergrated with well planned short internships prior to actual placement can assist students to stand out in competiton among all the other students. As the current companies require experience for even entry level jobs. By intergrating these types of internship can enhance overall value of candidate.
On the other hand, this trend has few drawbacks, as such trends can easily distract students from their atcual goal and aim of the life. When people begin earning they show less interest in studies which is sacrosanct for each student to complete the course. Moreover, when student spend time studying abroad they faces several type of obstacles such as language barrier, financial issue and isolation becuase students are not cognizant of culture and environment.
To conclude, althoguh doing a work placement or time spent studying abroad can be reason of distraction, it offers prior experience, enhancement of capabilitites and support in standing out among competition also should be considered. As for me in this matter the advantages outweigh the disadvantages.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, clearly stating a position that the advantages outweigh the disadvantages. The ideas are relevant, such as cultural exposure and employability, though some points are slightly under-developed. For instance, the argument regarding students being distracted by earning money is a bit vague and could have been linked more directly to the requirement of studying abroad or work placements. Overall, the essay maintains a consistent focus on the topic, and the conclusion effectively summarises the main points while reiterating the writer's stance. To reach a higher band, ensure that each supporting point is fully explained with more specific examples or logical reasoning.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is logically organised with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the benefits and drawbacks. Cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'Furthermore', 'On the other hand', and 'To conclude' are used to guide the reader through the argument. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and there are minor issues with referencing and sentence-level flow, such as in the sentence 'By spending time while studying abroad makes student expose to other side of the world', where the grammatical structure disrupts the flow. Overall, the progression of ideas is clear and easy to follow.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express their ideas clearly. There are attempts to use less common vocabulary, such as 'sacrosanct', 'cognizant', and 'integrated'. However, there are several spelling errors ('indiviuals', 'capabilitities', 'intergrated', 'atcual', 'althoguh') and some awkward collocations ('life long lesson', 'stand out in competition'). While these errors do not impede communication, they indicate a need for more careful proofreading and a better grasp of word formation. Expanding the range of precise academic vocabulary would help elevate the score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement ('student expose', 'student spend', 'student faces') and article usage ('the first and most benefit'). Some sentences are structurally incomplete or awkward, such as 'By spending time while studying abroad makes student expose to other side of the world'. While the meaning is generally clear, the frequency of these errors prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Focusing on basic grammatical accuracy and ensuring that complex sentences are constructed correctly will lead to significant improvement.
