Student answer (Band 6.5)

It is becoming increasingly common for universities to offer undergraduate programmes that include either work placements or opportunities to study abroad. While this approach has some drawbacks, I believe its advantages outweigh the disadvantages.

To commence with, it help students to gather more practical knowledge and to broaden their horizon before entering into the actual world. These opportunities not only allows them to spent dedicated time, but also assist to prepare oneself for future endeavor. While doing apprentice with good multinational organization, students develop a wide range of valuable skills. For instance, they acquire good communication skills, become logical thinkers, and work alongside people from different cultural backgrounds allows them more vulnerable. Moreover, they indulged into technology so deeper while on these work placements, so after completing their graduation they got bunch of better opportunities.

Conversely, Sometimes these placements are significantly expensive, especially studying abroad. Students from low-income families are unable to take advantage of such opportunities. Furthermore, some students are not so confident to cope up with other people around, so that become difficult for them to survive in different country. For example, a student from a rural area may struggle to communicate in a foreign language and adjust to a new culture, which can affect both their academic performance and overall well-being.

In conclusion, although it impact some students academic performance and overall well-being who not able to cope up with different culture. however, it serves numerous advantages such as it helps to enhance their practical knowledge, broaden their horizon and acquire communication and interpersonal skills

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

You have addressed all parts of the prompt, clearly stating your position that the advantages outweigh the disadvantages. You provided relevant arguments for both sides, such as practical skill acquisition and the financial/cultural challenges students might face. However, some ideas are slightly under-developed; for instance, the point about students becoming 'more vulnerable' when working with diverse groups is unclear and likely a misuse of the word. To reach a higher band, ensure that every point is fully explained with clear logical links rather than just listing benefits or drawbacks. Overall, the response is relevant and maintains a consistent position throughout.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each with a distinct focus. You use some cohesive devices like 'To commence with', 'Conversely', and 'In conclusion' to signal the structure. However, the flow is occasionally interrupted by mechanical or repetitive phrasing. The final sentence of the conclusion is a sentence fragment, which disrupts the coherence of the ending. Additionally, the transition between ideas within paragraphs could be smoother; for example, the jump from communication skills to technology in the second paragraph feels abrupt. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring full sentence structures would enhance the logical progression.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, including terms like 'multinational organization', 'interpersonal skills', and 'low-income families'. However, there are several instances of imprecise word choice or awkward collocations that hinder the precision of your argument. For example, 'allows them more vulnerable' is incorrect usage, and 'indulged into technology so deeper' is non-standard. You also rely on some repetitive phrasing like 'cope up with' (which should be 'cope with'). To improve, focus on learning the specific contexts in which words are used and avoid translating directly from your native language.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there is a high frequency of grammatical errors. Subject-verb agreement is a recurring issue, such as 'it help students' (should be 'helps') and 'opportunities not only allows' (should be 'allow'). There are also issues with verb forms, such as 'they indulged into' and 'who not able to'. Punctuation is inconsistent, particularly in the conclusion where a sentence fragment is used. While the meaning is generally clear, these persistent errors in basic grammar prevent the essay from reaching a higher band. Focus on proofreading for subject-verb agreement and consistent tense usage.
