Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt by discussing the inclusion of study abroad or work placements in undergraduate courses. However, the position is not clearly maintained throughout. While you introduce the topic, you do not explicitly state whether the advantages outweigh the disadvantages, which is a requirement for a higher band. The ideas are relevant but remain somewhat underdeveloped; for instance, the mention of 'sociologists' and 'data analysis' is vague and lacks specific examples or logical depth. To improve, ensure you take a clear stance in the introduction and provide more detailed, concrete evidence to support your arguments in the body paragraphs.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the progression of ideas is sometimes disjointed. The use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate, such as 'To see pros and cons of this debate we will discuss this topic in following paragraphs'. Additionally, referencing is occasionally unclear, and the transition between the benefits and the drawbacks is abrupt. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words (e.g., 'furthermore', 'conversely', 'consequently') more naturally to connect your sentences and paragraphs, ensuring that each idea flows logically into the next.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary used is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range required for higher bands. There are several instances of awkward word choices and minor errors, such as 'scientific revolution' (likely meaning 'technological advancement'), 'witch' (instead of 'which'), and 'there significance' (instead of 'their'). You rely on basic vocabulary and struggle with collocations. To improve, try to incorporate more academic vocabulary related to education and professional development, and pay closer attention to spelling and word forms to ensure your writing sounds more professional and precise.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'Some sociologists urges'), incorrect use of articles, and punctuation errors. For example, 'whom has not get' should be 'who have not gained'. While the meaning is generally clear, these persistent errors prevent the essay from reaching a higher band. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically subject-verb agreement and the correct use of relative pronouns, and proofread your work to catch simple slips in grammar and tense.
