Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses the prompt by discussing both the advantages and disadvantages of studying abroad or work placements. However, the development of ideas is limited. While you mention points like 'language barriers' and 'hands-on experience,' these are not sufficiently supported with detailed explanations or concrete examples. The position is somewhat clear, but the lack of depth in argumentation prevents a higher score. To improve, ensure each main idea is followed by a clear explanation and a relevant example to fully develop your argument.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which is a positive step. However, the logical flow is often disrupted by awkward phrasing and a lack of clear cohesive devices. Transitions between sentences are sometimes mechanical or missing, making it difficult for the reader to follow the progression of your argument. For instance, the jump between discussing language barriers and student motivation is abrupt. Using a wider variety of linking words (e.g., 'consequently,' 'furthermore,' 'in contrast') would help improve the flow and clarity of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is quite basic and repetitive, often relying on simple terms like 'changes' or 'problems.' There are several instances of incorrect word choice and collocation, such as 'deployment of student' instead of 'placement of students' and 'grinding process' which is used inappropriately in this context. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use more precise academic vocabulary and collocations. Focus on learning how words are used in context rather than just memorizing isolated terms.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'this changes... leads'), article usage (e.g., 'The Education is backbone'), and sentence structure. Many sentences are fragmented or run-on, making the text difficult to parse. While there is an attempt to use complex structures, they are often inaccurate. Focusing on basic sentence construction and ensuring subject-verb agreement will significantly improve the readability and accuracy of your work.
