Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, reaching only 204 words. This significantly impacts the development of ideas. While you touch upon the topic of work placements and studying abroad, the arguments are underdeveloped and lack specific examples or a clear, sustained position. The essay ends abruptly mid-sentence, which prevents a full exploration of the prompt. To improve, you must ensure you address all parts of the question with sufficient depth and provide a clear conclusion. The current response is too brief to fully develop the advantages and disadvantages as requested.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay lacks a clear logical progression. While there is an attempt at paragraphing, the ideas within the paragraphs are disjointed and often difficult to follow. The use of cohesive devices is mechanical and sometimes inaccurate, such as the repetitive use of 'Though' and 'However' without proper sentence structure. Referencing is often unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow your train of thought. To improve, focus on using transition words more naturally and ensure each paragraph has a clear topic sentence that supports your overall argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and often inaccurate, which frequently impedes communication. There are several instances of incorrect word forms and spelling errors, such as 'theorical' instead of 'theoretical', 'benifit' instead of 'benefit', and 'relacantant' instead of 'reluctant'. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to express complex ideas effectively. To improve, focus on learning the correct spelling and usage of academic vocabulary. Try to expand your range by reading more academic texts and noting how words are used in context, rather than relying on basic or misused terminology.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.5
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that often make the text difficult to understand. There are significant issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'Students are always find to be confuse'), sentence fragments, and incorrect word order. The range of structures is very limited, and the attempt at complex sentences is largely unsuccessful due to these persistent errors. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles and prepositions. Proofreading for basic errors is essential before submitting your work.
