Student answer (Band 6.0)
All universities have undergraduate courses, a work placement and studying abroad should be the part of these courses. In my opinion, advantages outweigh the drawbacks, both points will be discussed in this essay with logical reasons and also draw a suitable conclusion for it.
Firstly, a work placement period is a very crucial aspect for the students who are currently enrolled in any university practical course. This might be in holidays or sometimes during their classes time. The students seek each and everything theoretically during their whole degree but for practical they should be need of industry exposure and it happens with the help of MOU which is signed by a specific university with a specific institution or a hospital.
Another aspect is a studying tour which is also beneficial for the physically and mentally health of the students. The purpose of Studying abroad is to make sure the international practical exposure for the students who had already completed their internship durations in their own country. Now its time to gain more knowledge from the experts, these are not from their own institutions but they are experienced.
A prime instance is that, I know my cousin who had knowledge or practical from his own country and afterwards he went to abroad and got experience there, now he is a senior executive in his company in which he got practical exposure.
Although, studying abroad is necessary for the placement but there are still some troubles because most universities and parents in our country cannot afford the expense for this international placement exposure.
To conclude, though some hardships are present regarding the placement but it has more advantages than the drawbacks so, our institutes should focus on the practical exposure.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt by discussing both work placements and study abroad programs. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention the benefits of practical exposure and international experience, the arguments lack depth and specific academic or professional context. The example provided about your cousin is personal and anecdotal rather than a well-developed illustration of the broader societal or educational benefits. To improve, ensure that each body paragraph provides a clear, extended argument that directly links back to the prompt's core question regarding whether these experiences should be mandatory for all undergraduate students.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear introduction and conclusion. However, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly awkward, such as the transition 'Another aspect is a studying tour' or the phrasing 'both points will be discussed in this essay'. The progression of ideas is generally clear, but the connection between sentences could be smoother. Referencing is occasionally imprecise, which makes some sentences feel disjointed. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence would enhance the overall flow.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range required for a higher band. You rely on basic phrasing such as 'seek each and everything' and 'troubles'. There are also some issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'studying tour' instead of 'study abroad program' and 'physically and mentally health' instead of 'physical and mental health'. While the meaning is generally clear, the lack of sophisticated or academic vocabulary limits the score. Incorporating more precise terminology related to higher education and professional development would be beneficial.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the reader's flow. Examples include 'should be the part of these courses' (article error), 'they should be need of industry exposure' (incorrect verb structure), and 'I know my cousin who had knowledge or practical' (awkward phrasing). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are some run-on sentences and comma splices. To reach a higher band, you need to demonstrate more consistent control over complex structures and reduce the frequency of basic grammatical slips.
